From pristine beaches to the awe-inspiring Australian outback, New South Wales (NSW) is one of the most unique places in the world. NSW Holidays are the ideal way to explore the State and enjoy stunning stretches of coastline, great bushwalks in beautiful national parks, and outstanding dining experiences in spectacular locations.
- Up-to-date information on the events and experiences in and around Sydney
- Suggestions on itineraries for your stay here
- Plenty of recommendations for summer activities
NSW is made up of a number of diverse regions. Winter in the Blue Mountains region features breathtaking scenic views and historic landmarks, plus some of Australia’s finest hotels and guesthouses.
If it’s a relaxing beachside holiday you’re after, there are plenty of towns along the NSW North Coast that fit the bill. The Central Coast region incorporates the major towns of Terrigal and Gosford, and as you travel further north you reach Newcastle , Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour . Don’t forget to extend your stay to Byron Bay , which is Australia’s most easterly town, and also famous for its artistic community.
Do grapevines feature in your winter dreams? The Hunter Valley is a world-class wine region. A popular setting for weddings and honeymoons, the Hunter region includes Pokolbin, Singleton and Lovedale and offers fresh air, gorgeous scenery, fine dining and, of course, great wines. A warming glass of Hunter shiraz is perfect for a cool winter evening. Winery tours and wine tasting are popular with visitors.
The South Coast of NSW has plenty to offer visitors. Wollongong is the largest town on the South Coast, drawing thousands of surfers, cyclists and bushwalkers. Similarly, the towns of Jervis Bay and Batemans Bay are popular with campers and nature lovers.
Country NSW incorporates the State’s best inland towns – with rich histories, spectacular views and plenty of things to see and do during the cooler months. Orange , for instance, is a friendly country town that hosts a number of food and wine celebrations in winter. It's also close to the famed Abercrombie Caves if you’re keen for a little adventure, as well as the Jenolan Caves further south.
The Snowy Mountains region is home to Australia’s best ski resorts within Kosciuszko National Park. Have fun skiing and snowboarding, or simply enjoy après ski while taking in the views of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia's highest peak.
For an authentic Aussie experience, you can’t go past an outback adventure. Broken Hill is a truly incredible place – with its spellbinding landscape and unique wildlife.
And finally, how about an island adventure? Lord Howe Island is only a short plane trip from Sydney. It’s a top destination year-round for birdwatchers with more than 14 species of seabirds. It’s also a great place for hiking - tackle one of the world's best day treks scaling the 875-metre tall Mount Gower.
