It oozes spice, hints blackberry, and a whiff of liquorice. It’s a rich, full‑flavoured, generous wine, but we also need to point out that the generosity is built on a frame of savoury, dense tannin.
Sangiovese makes crackingly good rosé - if your taste is for crisp, fresh, dry rosé, with bright colours, aromas and flavours (and frankly, that’s where our taste is…!).
The Spaniards to like to age their ‘serious’ Tempranillos in both barrel and bottle for extended periods (resulting in Riserva and Gran Riserva wines), and when they get it ‘right’ the results are spectacular: rich, earthy, complex, leathery, chewy wines of interest and length. But often ‘mature’.
