Reading pay tribute to manager Jaap Stam with inventive Batman video as he continues to lead play-off charge
- Jaap Stam continues ascent into cult heroism with his very own themed video
- Reading manager has been popular since taking charge of the club this summer
- Some were unconvinced as former defender was handed his first job in England
- The Royals sit fourth in the table and look likely to make the play-offs this season
Anyone still doubting Jaap Stam's fast ascent to the status of Reading cult hero have been swiftly silenced by the club's latest tribute to their Dutch manager.
Not only are the Royals playing good football under Stam, but they have gone from relegation candidates to promotion contenders, sitting fourth in the Championship and six points clear of seventh-placed Derby.
It is no wonder, then, that Reading already see Stam as their very own super hero, explaining why the club released a fun animation depicting the Dutch manager as none other than Batman.
Jaap Stam has fast become a cult hero at Reading after leading their play-off charge
Stam has been depicted as Batman in a fun animation by the club
Stam is dressed in the usual Batman attire with initials JS written on the front
It is set to be shown on the match-day big-screen at the Madejski Stadium against Cardiff
Constructed by BenjaminG animation, the video is set to be shown on the match-day big-screen at the Madejski Stadium in their upcoming match against Cardiff City.
Fans will be encouraged to sing along with the classic Batman theme tune (na, na, na... you know the one) but replace the all-important words with 'Jaap Stam'.
Having never managed in England before, Stam was a questionable choice to replace club hero Brian McDermott in the summer, but has since proved more than capable.
The Royals consolidated their place in the play-offs with a 1-0 win over Fulham
Reading's 1-0 victory over Fulham on Tuesday consolidated their position in the Championship play-off places with only a poor spell of form likely to see them drop out of the top six before season's end.
Stam may have been lacking in managerial experience on these shores when he arrived at Reading, but he certainly knows how to win trophies in England.
He won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the Champions League in hugely successful three years with Manchester United during his career as a defender.
Although a Championship title looks unlikely, promotion to the Premier League will be seen as one of his greatest achievements as a player or a manager...if only by Reading fans.

Stam has also instilled an attractive style of football at the Madejski Stadium this season
