About Clique

Clique Photo Club aims to promote and inspire photographers at any skill level. We are run from the newsrooms of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Our motto is Learn. Shoot. Share.

Learn more about photography with access to award-winning Fairfax photographers at our workshops and events. Shoot to a brief in our monthly Challenges or other photography competitions Clique holds over the year. Share your work with other photographers and be a part of a supportive photographic community.

Membership options

We have a two-tier membership structure:

  1. Basic Clique membership – is FREE and includes entry into our monthly Challenges (February to November) and other competitions. It also includes a special offer from Momento Photo Books of a 10% discount off your one first book and or box orders.

  2. Full Clique membership –  costs $49 for the public and $39 for Fairfax subscribers. It includes feedback from our photographers on images submitted to monthly Challenges, early-bird registration to Clique run workshops and events, plus a growing range of discounts, such as saving 15% on the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan. Momento is also offering membership to their premium Momento Pro service with 30% off your first your first photo book + box order then 10% off all other further orders. 

Five ways to win

  1. Monthly Challenges. Monthly Challenges run from February to November each year. We set you a monthly photography theme and then our professionals judge the winner.
  2. Nikon People’s Choice Award. This is held alongside our monthly Challenges. Clique members can vote from a selection of finalist images from the month to show us which image they think is the best. The photo with the most votes will receive a $500 Nikon Store voucher.
  3. Clique Photographer of the Year. A winner is selected with the strongest portfolio from their monthly Challenge entries. Members have to submit to a minimum of three monthly Challenges each calendar year to be in the running for Clique Photographer of the Year.
  4. Traveller’s “Big Picture” travel photography competition. Runs on Traveller.com.au and in Saturday editions of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Every six months we have a great travel prize.
  5. Summer Herald photo competition. Runs in the Summer Herald with 15 winners. Members submit images over 30 days within the theme of ‘Summer’.

Workshops & Events

We hold photography workshops and seminars throughout the year. Our workshops cover a wide range of photography types such as street, architectural, food photography, sports, night and portrait photography. We cater to all photography skill levels and are led by award-winning Fairfax photographers.

Clique also holds free seminars and photography hangouts to help our members connect with one another.
