To get the most out of your visit, hit the Gold Coast Hinterland Food and Wine Trail. This self-guided tour will bring you to farms, cafes, wineries and breweries.

Visit the Witches Chase Cheese Company to indulge in dairy treats of all kinds. See how dairy products are prepared in an eco-friendly manner and sample a wide range of cheeses, yoghurts and ice cream made onsite. Right next door, a craft brewery and pub await.

Gold Coast Hinterland National Parks

The Gold Coast Hinterland has a number of national parks. Springbrook National Park is set upon age old volcanic soil, with a plateau elevated 900 m above the landscape and interrupted by gorges. The park includes forests with a variety of vegetation, so you can go walking through the rainforest, then switch to hiking beneath eucalyptus trees. Birdwatchers have plenty of opportunities to spot rare species and rock pools create the perfect natural swimming spots.

Tamborine National Park is the oldest national park in the state and is home to a series of waterfalls. Access the cascades, such as Witches Falls or Curtis Falls, on foot, via one of the trails. There are tracks of all intensities. Lamington National Park is all of 200 square kilometres, with 160 km of walking paths. Ambitious hikers can undertake the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk, which covers 54 km from the Green Mountains to the Springbrook Plateau.

See More Scenery

The Springbrook Plateau boasts an ambitiously called Best of All Lookout, which lets visitors take in vistas of the plateau’s southern rim. Access to the lookout is by a 350 m footpath, winding its way past Antarctic beech trees, which are found nowhere else.

Kick things up a notch and see the Gold Coast hinterland from above when you go on a private hot air balloon ride. Many different rides are available, including champagne brunches in the air. As you float through the sky, guides will tell you all about the land you see below.
