The Hide is owner run and managed by Lisa Brophy and Sue Wright so you can expect personalised service.

Dogs love staying at The Hide too If you wish to bring your dogs please read below before booking. Our philosophy around allowing dogs to stay is for guests and their dogs to enjoy a holiday together at The Hide. It is not designed to be an alternative to a kennel so we recommend guests leave their dogs at home if they wish to go out frequently without their dogs as we have a strict policy about not leaving dogs behind. Our FAQ on our website explains why we have this policy.

Kangaroos graze regularly near The Hide and drink from our beautiful dam. Geese return home daily to their island on the dam. Goslings hatch in spring.

Top quality queen sized beds in each of the two generous bedrooms. Quality linen and towels are provided. Hairdryer and iron supplied. Great day bed and furnishings.

The kitchenette is designed to allow you to cater for a relaxing time away from home. The two burner stove is sufficient to cook or reheat meals and a great Weber Q100 BBQ on the patio is perfect for a barbie. There is no microwave because we are on solar power and there is no oven. There is no need to bring the dressing for the salad as oil and vinegar and other condiments are supplied as well as plunger & espresso coffee and good quality tea bags.

We offer breakfast supplies for $10 per guest per day. When the chookies are laying we'll provide fresh eggs and home made sour dough bread as well as Sue's home made jam/marmalade, vegemite, honey from bees on our property, peanut butter and butter. We also include, our home made baked muesli, low fat milk, plain yoghurt and apple juice from Harcourt. To order breakfast you need to let us know and pay on arrival.

There is an LCD HD television to watch a good movie if you feel like curling up on the couch or lounging on the day bed.

The outdoor setting is ideal for you to brunch, have a glass of wine and to feel a part of the environment.

Our large windows and glass doors allow you to absorb the fabulous views of the dam and the wildlife it attracts such as kangaroos, ducks, birds and geese.

Our location, orientation and building materials mean that we can stick to environmentally friendly principals and use ceiling fans to keep you comfortable all year round. The heating is a free standing wood burner which is very efficient and keeps The Hide very warm and toasty in the cooler months. Wood is supplied.

Should you wish to have your pantry and fridge stocked upon arrival we may be able to do this subject to availability and within reason. Just give us a shopping list allow for the fact that we have small Coles supermarket in Daylesford and we will provide you with the receipt and we add just 10 to to total.

DO YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN SOUR DOUGH BREAD?

We offer private classes during your stay and you get to take home some extra bread and the levin to make bread at home. Ask us for more information.

We recommend that you carefully consider the suitability of The Hide for young children due to the proximity of the dam to The Hide and the exposed wood burner. The Hide is fenced and has a gate into the paddock with the dam. Please feel free to discuss this with us.

We want to encourage guests to stay at The Hide during the week because there is so much to see in this region. We are located perfectly to be able to go for great walks, bike rides, visit The Chocolate Mill 3 min drive, Lavandula 10 min drive, Hepburn Bath House 7 min drive, Castlemaine 20 min drive, the list is endless.

THE BONUS OF STAYING AT THE HIDE IS THAT YOU GET TO EXPERIENCE ALL THAT DAYLESFORD AND THE REGION HAS TO OFFER AND THEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO RELAX IN THE PEACE AND QUIET.

YOUR DOG CAN ENJOY THE HIDE TOO

The Hide has its own enclosed small yard so you may like to have your dog come with you. There are farm animals and native animals around so Fido needs to be under your care at all times. Endless walks are available from our gate and Fido can relax inside with you after a day of relaxing

When enquiring about pet friendly make sure the accommodation is really pet friendly. Is the property well fenced? Are dogs allowed inside? At The Hide we have a fenced yard and your dogs are allowed inside.

Experience has led us to have a policy of not permitting dogs or pets to be left unattended inside or outside The Hide at any time. Please visit our website which is daylesfordtownand country and FAQ to view our pet friendly conditions as when booking you are accepting these conditions.

Many people like to enjoy the wonderful massages offered in the area. As we do not allow dogs to be left unattended at The Hide we recommend an in-house massage offered by a number of great local masseurs or booking massages separately if you are coming as a couple or group of people. In warmer months it is not advisable to leave your dogs in the car for any time.

IF YOU WISH TO BOOK STRAIGHT AWAY PLEASE READ BELOW.

When you click request booking you will be taken to a page which asks you for more information including a section for writing us a message. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU WRITE US A NOTE under the following circumstances:

-You are two guests wanting 2 beds. Unless notified we will only make up one bed. There is a linen fee per stay of $30.

- If you wish to bring a dogs - tell us how many dogs max 2 and the breed. If you wish to bring a dogs you must agree to our conditions as outlined above and that you will not leave the dog unattended at The Hide.

If either of the above apply and you don't let us know The Hide will not be prepared for you correctly.

PLEASE NOTE

We want our guests to have a totally relaxing break and enjoy our beautiful environment. As our water comes from the sky into our tanks, electricity from the sun into our batteries and from the gas man into our bottles we ask guests to feel pampered but mindful when using these precious commodities. Thank you.

We have animals on our property. Inside the house paddock we have chooks chickens, geese, our cat and our two dogs. On the rest of the property we have six, fat friendly cows who are employed to keep the grass short and look pretty in the paddock. They have this job for life.

The Hide is a shared property. There may be guests staying in the Hide Homestead 60 metres away at the west end of our home and we, the owners are living in the east end of the house. We request that all guests respect their co-inhabitants' space. It is quite common for none of us to see each other the whole of the stay

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relaxing peaceful country retreat We loved staying at the Hide, and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and serenity. Looking out the window, while relaxing on the lounge, and observing the wild life and cows visiting the dam was a real treat. We also appreciated the fresh eggs and home made sour dough which we used for breakfast, accompanied by percolated coffee provided by our hosts. We found the location great - only 10 minutes drive along a secluded well made dirt road into Daylesford, and central to the Victorian goldfields, Diggers gardens, Lavendula and Hepburn Springs (which we visited regularly to partake of the waters)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Special We spent 3 nights at The Hide and were sad to leave. It was the independent, very quiet accommodation that we like. The views are lovely and there are various special personal touches. We especially appreciated the hot water bottle , the Ned Kelly wood fire and the daybed in the cold weather we encountered !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the Hide! We had a wonderful relaxing time staying at The Hide. It was very private and secluded with views of the cows and kangaroos from the kitchen and lounge. The accomadation had everything we could possibly need, even an umbrella! The Ned Kelly kept us toasty for the duration of our stay. We walking and cycled around the 44 acres everyday. What a stunning location. The Hide was spotlessly clean and comfortably. We will be back. Thanks Lisa and Sue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! We wanted a relaxing and peaceful hideaway and that is exactly what we got. Tucked away with a beautiful outlook across the paddocks this is a hidden gem. Lisa's fresh bread and helpful attention made the stay like a home away from home. Five stars from us! Will definitely be back.
