SIMON JONES: The January transfer window comes to a close on Tuesday evening and with it will go the final opportunity for Premier League clubs to strengthen ahead of a vastly undecided season's end. No club is certain to win the title and no club is certain to go down. The difference between finishing in the top half or in the bottom three could be made with one vital signing in these final few days. Sportsmail takes you through five deals that should happen before Tuesday and five more that the club's are trying hard to make happen.

Welbeck had only been back for three months following a 10-month layoff with a serious injury to his left knee when he suffered a serious one to his right knee against Manchester City last May and has only managed a smattering of substitute appearances this month since making his return.

Oxford United 3-0 Newcastle: FA Cup shock

OLIVER HOLT AT KASSAM STADIUM: On Friday night, the Oxford Union hosted a Town versus Gown boxing event in its debating chamber. At the Kassam Stadium, it was Gown versus Toon and a Newcastle side weakened by nine changes made by Rafa Benitez lost by a knock-out to a rampant Oxford United side who marched through to the FA Cup fifth round.

Gordon Reid clinches doubles career Grand Slam

Great Britain's Gordon Reid completed a career Grand Slam of doubles titles after winning the Australian Open wheelchair event with Belgian Joachim Gerard. Reid's defence of his singles title in Melbourne ended at the hands of Gerard on Wednesday but the pair united in the doubles to beat Briton Alfie Hewett and Argentinian Gus Fernandez 6-3 3-6 1-0 (10/3).
