Would you trust the likes of a builder over a solicitor, or a politicians over a doctor?
The Northern Ireland public would vote overwhelmingly in favour of same-sex marriage, the latest Lucid Talk tracker poll has found.
For an election junkie like me coming off a US election night coverage marathon is like coming off a drug. The drama was exhilarating. The analysis, forecasts , projections - great. Frankly I think we should have an election like that and Brexit every six months or so - just for the...
It has become the last big battleground as the race for the White House enters its final, dramatic hours.
IT is US Election day for the next US President and so we thought we'd have a go at an election night results guide.
Belfast pollster Bill White examines whether the UK's decision to leave the European Union in a referendum early this year should have been such a shock.
I attended the recent UUP conference and, as has already been said by other commentators, UUP Leader Mike Nesbitt gave one of the best speeches of his career.
You will have seen the online poll run by the Belfast Telegraph about demand for a border poll, and how people would perhaps vote if such a poll took place.
So that was an electoral event and a half. Drama, debate, endless punditry, massive media coverage - the EU referendum had everything. Plus of course, there were seemingly endless polls.
The UK European Union in/out referendum campaign is well underway, and has only four weeks to go. We'll be polling on the EU Referendum issue right up to voting day on June 23.
The election is over and we now have an election break until 2019 - although there is the EU referendum coming up on 23 June.
Our last article on public views regarding education as the NI Assembly election approached, looked at the evidence suggesting that parents are demanding more consultation in terms of education planning.
Our April Opinion Panel 'Tracker' poll was carried out online for a period of 60 Hours from 10am April 26 to 10pm April 28 (60 hours), and is the last of our tracker polls before the Northern Ireland Assembly election on Thursday. Subjects covered included Northern Ireland political...
As you may have seen the BBC NI Political Leaders' Debate programme ran from 8pm to 9pm on Tuesday.
The latest in our series of LucidTalk opinions polls has found that a majority would like to see an independent non-political review of Northern Ireland's education system.
As you may have seen from our previous reports, LucidTalk are running regular 'Monthly Tracker' polls of their Northern Ireland Opinion Panel during the build-up to the NI Assembly elections on 5th May, and the UK EU Referendum in June.
As you may have seen from our February reports, LucidTalk are running regular 'Monthly Tracker' polls of their Northern Ireland Opinion Panel during the build-up to the NI Assembly elections on May 5 and the UK EU Referendum in June.
Many people don't realise but referendums usually produce significant differences in opinion between men and women.
We had our first Northern Ireland political leader ratings question in our last a poll in October, and in old school-day terms none of our main political leaders got over the 40% pass mark.
One of the 'big' questions to ask in any poll is what political party the respondent is planning to vote for at the next election and our recent February BIG100 (100 Hour) poll was no exception.
With a UK European Union referendum coming up we started polling on this issue in Northern Ireland last October.
The general election 2015 wasn't exactly a success for the UK polling industry, and although LucidTalk had no involvement with the national UK polling, we still get the little jibe remarks about our own polls, and 'getting it wrong', but we take all that in good spirit.
LucidTalk was commissioned by the QUB Institute of Irish Studies to undertake research into attitudes on the use of flags.
Hopefully you noticed our first article last week covering our recent polling research into the subject of 'Flags and their display' in Northern Ireland. Our polling is part of a wider research project and study currently being carried out by the QUB Institute of Irish Studies,...
The problem of flags is not a new one. In 1964, in an incident that was the opening act to the years of violence that followed, riots broke out in Divis Street at the bottom of the Falls Road when an Irish tricolour was removed from the election offices of a republican group.
One of the usual questions in any poll is what political party you plan to vote for at the next election - and our recent BIG60 Poll was no exception.
Everyone complains about politicians and especially political leaders - well at least it seems that way.
We all know there's a difference of opinion in Northern Ireland regarding what nationality people consider themselves to be.
With a UK European Union referendum coming up within the next two years we thought it would be relevant to include a poll question on this issue in our recent BIG60 online poll.
I attended the recent Conservative party conference in Manchester - NB as a press representative not as a Tory! Funny that, you always feel you have to sort of apologise for attending Conservative events!
Polls and polling always generate a lot of debate, including a fair amount of criticism, and our recent 'Big90' online poll was no different - no problem with that, that's par for the course.
Hopefully you will have seen our earlier review on Tuesday regarding the recent 'Big90' online poll, which achieved a whopping 2,143 responses.
Well our 'Big90', our 90 hour online poll, was a great success with a whopping 2,143 submitting full responses.
There has been plenty of recent debate about Northern Ireland's position on same-sex marriage, it now being the only place in these islands were same-sex marriage is still not recognised.
The polling industry has taken a bit of a bashing over the past few months with the polls building up to UK general election ending up being out of kilter with the actual result.
Speaking at last weekend's 'anti austerity' march in London Martin McGuinness said 'The Tories were elected on the lowest share of the vote ever for a Tory government - 24% is no mandate for austerity'.
Congratulations to the Republic of Ireland polling companies who forecast the same sex marriage referendum result correctly.
Napoleon said 'I know he's a good general, but is he lucky'? - Mike Nesbitt has shown that he is both.
As you may know we carried out a full constituency poll in East Belfast back in January with the results published in the Belfast Telegraph in February. This of course was before the Unionist pact so we also had poll estimates for the UUP, TUV, Ukip, and the PUP among others.
That's all the NI results in, and it's only proper that we compare the actual results with our last Opinion Panel, published in the Belfast Telegraph last Saturday. First of all, our Opinion Panel was only meant to give an approximate view of the trends as it was based on a...
So it's getting close to the pop-corn, slippers, and perhaps that stiff drink time as people start getting ready to watch the all night marathon of the election results coverage.
So we've now got the final results from our April Opinion Panel Poll, and the last before the general election on 7th May.
As pollsters, we regularly review the election betting odds quoted by the bookmakers and betting exchanges. And the Bookmakers avidly follow the polls to spot any changing trends. As such, we thought it would be interesting to compare the election polling to the...
We are now underway with our April NI-Wide Opinion Panel Poll which will be the final one before the 7th May UK General Election - results in the Belfast Telegraph at start of May.
Following our February Opinion Panel poll, we now present the results of our March Panel poll.
Well, the campaign is now underway - officially. The parties and the media sell the election as though it's a fair contest, but those who understand election systems know it's far from fair; the first-past-the-post system sees to that.
Just to get the build-up going to the upcoming Westminster election on 7th May we'll be running our Opinion Panel polling every month from February to May. We will be feeding this data into our prediction models, and then projecting the results for each of Northern Irelands 18 Westminster constituencies, and tracking any trends up and down.
Our recent Belfast Telegraph-LucidTalk East Belfast constituency poll, showed that the 'non-voters' are still with us, and are increasing in number.
Hopefully you will have seen the LucidTalk East Belfast constituency poll last week and as with all polls this has generated its fair share of comments and opinions.
All polls are snapshots. They reveal what a representative sample of people are thinking about a current issue at a particular point in time. This applies to the whole range of polling and market research services and not just political polls.
