2015 Hyundai Genesis
Audi, Jeep, Holden, Citroen, Jaguar, Land Rover, Smart, MG, Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Fiat and Saab have all issued recalls in Australia in the last few weeks.
Mitsubishi is recalling a combined 114,862 vehicles from its Colt, Grandis, Lancer, Outlander and Pajero ranges, due to potential failures with headlamp and turn signal switches.
The Japanese carmaker is also recalling a further 212 Lancer, Outlander and ASX models with manual transmissions to replace a transmission-lever selector pin.
One of the more interesting recalls involves Jaguar, with the British carmaker calling back seven of its new F-TYPE in Australia.
The Big Cat is concerned that a failing ‘deployable rear spoiler’ may cause the vehicle to become unstable and more difficult to control... but only at speeds above 217km/h.
The Jaguar Land Rover group has also recalled 96 of its V6 and V8 diesel Range Rover variants, along with Land Rover Defender 110 and 130 models.
Range Rovers can potentially develop a short in the under-bonnet electric cooling-fan, while Defender owners with 2011 and 2012 models have reported front axle oil-leaks and even front wheels detaching from their vehicles.
A total of 1240 Audi models sold in Australia including A4, A5, A6, A7 and Q5 variants with the 3.0 litre TDI diesel engine have been recalled.
Engine oil could potentially ‘intrude’ into the braking system causing the servo diaphragm to rupture, eventually leading to reduced braking capacity.
Jeep has recalled Grand Cherokee models built between 1993 and 1998 along with 2002-2007 Cherokee models due to a potential fuel leak.
Cherokees and Grand Cherokees built in 2014 have also been recalled, due to a potential problem with rear shock absorbers on the Cherokee and the ‘rear turn lamp outage detection system’ in the Grand Cherokee.
Other recalls include:
- 24 x Citroen C3 and DS3 for a potential front suspension arm fixing bolt failure
- An additional 241 Holden MJ Barinas (following on from an earlier recall) with manual transmissions
- 8 x 2013 Holden Trax due to front seatbelt pre-tensioner issues
- 20 x Mercedes-Benz SL and SLK for front passenger airbag issues
- 636 x Smart ForTwo due to a wiring concern with the heater shutoff valve
- 12 x MG6 for lack of centre child restraint anchorage point, as required by Australian Design Rules
- An unknown quantity of Fiat 500 models due to wiring under the dash rubbing on the steering column
- 2724 x Saab 9-3 Convertibles due to issues with the seatbelt Automatic Tensioning System (ATS)
- Suzuki Swift models built between June and October 2013 due to water pump pulley issues
Motorcycle recalls include a number of Harley-Davidson models built in 2013 and 2014 due to clutch issues, along with 690 Yamahas built in 2014 and 1082 Ducatis built between 2011 and 2014.

NOTE: The Saab 9-3 Convertible recall will be carried out by Holden dealers.
