Lexus GS And IS Recalled For Fuel Sensor Leak

Lexus has recalled two models this week, with each potentially affected by a leaking fuel pressure sensor.

The models in question are the IS 250 and the GS 300, built between December 2004 and September 2007.

Lexus has identified a weakness with the connector that attaches the sensor to the delivery pipe which may not have been assembled correctly.

The discrepancy may allow the gasket to degrade over time, eventually resulting in a fuel leak.

Leaking fuel in the engine bay may contact hot engine parts, resulting in a fire.

Around 1000 GS 300s are affected by the recall, along with 7300 IS 250s, but Lexus says no incidents, injuries or vehicle fires have been reported in Australia.

The recall process will see a new fuel pressure sensor gasket installed, and the connector will be tightened to specification.

The process is expected to take between three to four hours, and will be carried-out free of charge for Lexus customers.
