SsangYong's updated Korando SUV has launched in Korea this week, revealed ahead of a likely Australian debut later this year or early in 2014.
Spied in a holding yard before its unveiling last week, the updated Korando gets re-shaped headlights, a broad new grille design and a subtly updated bumper.
The refresh brings the Korando's look closer to the newer Actyon Sports pickup, which wears a similar headlight and grille design.
Changes to the rear end are less pronounced, limited to new LED elements in the existing light housings. New 18-inch wheels round out the exterior tweaks.
The cabin picks up an all-new dash enriched with silver and wood-look highlights, a more streamlined centre stack, all flanked by redesigned door panels and new trim options. The steering wheel remains unchanged, however.
New features include a new seven-inch display, satellite navigation, Infinity audio, keyless entry and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
SsangYong says it has also improved the Korando's efficiency, with fuel consumption dropping to 7.8 l/100km for the auto-equipped front-wheel-drive petrol model, and 5.8 l/100km for the manual.
The carmaker also claims to have reduced vibration and noise in the cabin by around 10 percent, thanks to improvements to the engine mounts and sub-frame rigidity.
Australian timing for the updated Korando has yet to be confirmed, but we expect either a late 2013 or early 2014 arrival.
