What is SeatGeek?

SeatGeek is a ticket platform that searches hundreds of other sales sites for you and brings ticket sellers together right here in one place. No more searching around wondering if you’re going to get ripped off. Want to sell your own tickets? Do it with a tap on SeatGeek’s Marketplace and we’ll even give you price recommendations. It’s never been easier to score sweet deals and save time looking for seats to games, shows, concerts and matches. Let’s go!

Can I use SeatGeek on my mobile device?

Of course you can! If you use an iPhone or iPad, simply download the SeatGeek app from the App Store. If you're an Android user, go to Google Play. You can learn more about the SeatGeek mobile apps here or go to seatgeek.com from your device. Our site’s fully mobile-optimized.

How do I register for a SeatGeek user account?

Visit seatgeek.com/#register or click the 'Sign Up' button at the top of any page on SeatGeek.

Why should I register for a SeatGeek user account?

Because once you do, you’ll always know when great live events are happening in your area. After logging in to SeatGeek you can:

  • Use our tracker feature to track performers and events and be notified when new or upcoming games and dates are released
  • Receive email alerts showing changes in ticket prices so you can time your purchase to get the best deal
  • Let SeatGeek use your tracking information to make recommendations for you about new artists you may be into
  • Send tickets to your friends as a gift or charge a price, totally free
  • Sell your tickets on the SeatGeek Marketplace with just a few clicks

You can read more about any of these features below.

What is the secondary ticket market?

The secondary ticket market is made up of tickets that are being resold after they've been purchased from a box office/primary ticket source.

Secondary market ticket prices fluctuate far more than primary market ticket prices. They can often fall below face value. On the flip side, if primary market tickets are underpriced or hard to get, secondary market ticket prices can cost more than face value. Good news is you can almost always still buy your way into an event on the secondary market long after primary market tickets have sold out.

I think I entered the incorrect email/shipping address, how can I change it?

Might be as simple as a typo in your email address. Luckily, this can be easily fixed. Go ahead and reach out to the seller directly and they should be able to update your information and resend any details you may've missed.

If you placed an order for a SeatGeek-branded listing, message us here with the correct information. For all other orders, you will get the fastest help by contacting the seller directly:

How does SeatGeek make money?

When you buy tickets off SeatGeek, you’re purchasing them from a variety of sellers. These sellers in turn pay us a small amount for every sale we help them make.

Who's behind SeatGeek?

SeatGeek was founded in September 2009 by Jack Groetzinger, Russell D'Souza and Eric Waller. It’s made in NYC by the talented folks seen on our Team page, and you can also find a short list of SeatGeek investors on our Press page at seatgeek.com/press.

Can I trust all the sellers whose tickets are listed on SeatGeek?

Yes. All the websites and marketplaces whose tickets are listed on SeatGeek have 100% (or better) guarantees that they offer, for example, if they fail to fulfill an order in time for an event, or if an event is canceled.

How safe is my private data with SeatGeek?

Very safe. We hate spam and assume that you do too. With that in mind, we'll never sell or share your email address or other personal information. You can read our full privacy policy here.

Where can I read SeatGeek's Terms of Use?

You can read SeatGeek's Terms of Use here.

How do I contact SeatGeek?

You can contact SeatGeek any time by emailing hi@seatgeek.com, tweeting at or DM'ing us @SeatGeek or dropping us a line on Facebook.

How do I contact someone about a question or problem with my order?

If SeatGeek is listed as the seller on the tickets page, message us here! Otherwise, you will get the fastest answer by contacting the seller of your tickets directly.

If you’re unsure who the seller is, check your order confirmation email which should contain the seller’s name and contact information. The transaction record on your credit card statement may also include a contact phone number. In case it helps, we've also put together a handy list of contact information for markets whose tickets most commonly appear on SeatGeek:

If your order has been placed with one of the sellers above please note SeatGeek doesn't own or sell those tickets, handle the payment, or fulfill or ship the tickets, so we don't have insight into their ticket orders or deliveries.

Where are my tickets?

The speed with which you receive your tickets can depend on (a) the policy of the seller from whom you purchased the ticket, (b) what kind of ticket you purchased, and (c) how near/far in the future your event date is. Most sellers provide delivery information during checkout and/or in order confirmation emails. If you want more information, you should contact them directly and ask.

Electronic tickets (a.k.a. "e-tickets") can usually be sent to you as an attachment in an email from the seller. Because of this, they tend to have the quickest delivery times

If you're only interested in seeing e-tickets during your search on SeatGeek, just check the "E-tickets only" checkbox at the top of any event page.

What are the seat numbers for my tickets?

All of our ticket information comes directly from vendors. They don't always specify seat numbers, and we can only display the information they provide. We can assure you that all tickets within the same listing will be right next to each other, unless otherwise stated in the ticket notes (i.e. piggyback, across aisle, etc). You're welcome to contact the vendor directly, as they may be able to give you a bit more information about this listing. Their name will be next to the ticket price on the main event page, and you can find their contact information here:

Will the seats/tickets I bought all be next to each other?

Yep. All tickets on SeatGeek that are part of the same listing are adjacent to each other, unless otherwise stated in the seller's notes.

I bought tickets to an event that's only a few days away, but I haven't received my tickets. What should I do?

To troubleshoot or check on the status of an order or delivery, you should contact the seller from whom you purchased the tickets. You may also want to check your email program's spam folder to make sure no important updates from the seller have mistakenly been trapped there.

It looks like I got the incorrect tickets, how can I fix this?

Yikes! If the tickets delivered look different than the ones you ordered, please reach out to the seller right away. Don’t worry, your purchase is protected by the SeatGeek Guarantee! If your tickets were purchased through a SeatGeek-branded listing, please message us here and we’ll do whatever we can to resolve the issue. If your tickets were purchased through a third-party vendor, you can reach out to the seller to get this fixed:

How will I receive my tickets?

Tickets bought on SeatGeek can arrive in a variety of ways. Both e-tickets and traditional paper tickets are available for many events. The delivery method for your order will be clearly listed on the checkout page so you know just what to expect before you buy. Don't want to wait for tickets to arrive in the mail? If you're on the hunt for e-tickets, you can set your search preference to e-tickets only while viewing an event page to show the best options that fit your needs.

Why do my tickets have someone else's name on them?

It’s very common for a ticket purchased on SeatGeek to have someone else’s name on it. This is usually the name of the person who originally purchased the ticket from the event box office (i.e. the primary market). By the time you see the ticket, it has been re-sold by that person at least once. Regardless of how many times a ticket changes hands, the name on it will not change.

Don’t worry. The name on your ticket has no bearing on whether you will be admitted to the event. The barcode is the only important piece of information on your ticket that will be scanned at the entrance.

Did my order go through?

When you order tickets through SeatGeek, the vendor will communicate important email updates with you. We also help you keep track of your order's status in the My Tickets section of your account. Please look in both places to find the status of your order. If you haven't received any emails, check your spam folder or reach out to your vendor about possibly updating your email information. You can find the vendor contact information below:

If you purchased tickets from the SeatGeek Marketplace, message us here and we'll work with you to locate the correct tickets.

Why is there a charge on my account?

As soon as you hit checkout, a pending authorization hold applies to your account. In the unlikely case that an order is canceled and unable to be fulfilled, the charge is immediately voided and will not continue to process. Depending on your bank, that pending charge will clear in 1-3 business days, maybe less.

If you need the funds available sooner, please contact your bank directly to see if they can manually remove the pending authorization hold.

Can I get a refund for tickets I found and purchased using SeatGeek?

You may be able to. Your best first step is to contact the seller from whom you purchased your tickets. Almost all the sellers and websites whose tickets are listed on SeatGeek have a 100% (or better) guarantee covering common circumstances such as event cancellations. SeatGeek does not offer refunds for tickets found and purchased using our site.

Why can't SeatGeek offer refunds on tickets?

In the same way that you would not expect a refund from Google for a bad search result, SeatGeek also can't provide refunds for its search results.

SeatGeek doesn't own or sell tickets sold by our vendor partners. We search the web and show you everything that's available. When you buy tickets from a vendor, you're paying money directly to the seller on whose website SeatGeek found the tickets. Because the tickets you bought were never ours and we didn't take any money during the transaction, we can neither take back the tickets nor refund the payment.

I can't complete the checkout process because of an error.

We've worked to make checkout as easy as possible here at SeatGeek. If you encounter an error during checkout you may want to try double checking the account information you've entered. You may want to enter alternative information or payment methods if the issue continues to persist. If the issue is not resolved by changing any of these factors, you may want to attempt purchasing tickets under a different listing for the same event. Alternatively, if nothing else works you can contact the vendor directly. Find the vendor contact information below:

If you purchased tickets from the SeatGeek Marketplace, message us here and we'll work with you to figure out the issue.

I want to cancel my order.

If you've ended up with tickets that you can not or do not want to use anymore, you'll want to review the terms and conditions of the vendor you purchased from before reaching out to them directly. In many cases, the vendors listing tickets on SeatGeek have 'all sales are final' policies. We created the SeatGeek Marketplace, to allow customer the opportunity to recoup their costs by listing their own tickets for sale. You can find more information here: seatgeek.com/sell

How do I find tickets using SeatGeek?

Find the search bar on any SeatGeek page and begin typing your query. Press enter or click the magnifying glass button to run your search. Chances are that you will quickly find the result you want within the autocomplete box that appears beneath the search bar as you're typing.

Our search box understands performer names ("Justin Bieber" or "Brooklyn Nets"), event names ("Book of Mormon" or "Super Bowl XLVIII"), venue names ("Staples Center"), city names ("Chicago, IL"), and even zip codes ("30342").

SeatGeek is an aggregate search engine. What does that mean?

Most ticket websites have their own search features for sifting through their tickets. But in order to see all available tickets for an event you're interested in, you'd need to visit and search hundreds of individual websites where tickets are listed. Nobody has time to do this on their own, so many customers end up settling for whatever deal seems good enough — without ever getting the full picture of what's available.

SeatGeek is the only aggregate search engine for tickets on the web. This means that we search hundreds of websites and pull all the results together in one place. So you can find better deals, save money, and feel much more confident about your buying decision.

What kinds of things does SeatGeek aggregate?

SeatGeek finds tickets for all kinds of performances: concerts, sports, Broadway, comedy shows, and more. It searches hundreds of websites with secondary market ticket listings.

Can I search for handicap-accessible seating using SeatGeek?

Unfortunately, no. We don't have reliable information about the handicap-accessibility of venues. We've found that this information changes frequently, so we recommend that you contact a venue directly to find out which seats are handicap-accessible.

What is Deal Score?

Deal Score is a number based on a fancy math calculation made by SeatGeek that tells you exactly how good a deal you're looking at. You can use Deal Score to quickly find the best deals, buy with confidence, and save money in the process.

How is Deal Score calculated?

We factor in lots of things while calculating deal score, and we're always tinkering to make it better. Some of the factors that influence Deal Score are: historical ticket prices for the performer and the venue, the row location, the expected sightline from the section, and the quality of the other available tickets for the event.

Deal Scores are based on an absolute scale, meaning that a Deal Score of a higher number is always a better deal than a Deal Score of a lower number — even across different events.

What is a good Deal Score?

Deal Scores can range from 1 to 100. Deals at either end of this range are rare, but a 100 means that this is one of the best ticket deals on SeatGeek. Conversely, a 1 is a very, very bad deal.

At SeatGeek, we group tickets into several categories based on their Deal Score:

Deal Score Category
Above 88Amazing
Above 68Great
Above 50Good
Between 40 and 50Okay
Between 30 and 40So-so
Less than 30Bad
Less than 15Awful

What does a blue dot or blue Deal Score mean?

Blue is the color assigned to ticket listings for which Deal Score cannot be calculated. This usually happens when SeatGeek can't make sense of the ticket information that is provided on the seller's website, such as when a listing uses non-standard section names or numbers. A blue dot or Deal Score doesn't necessarily signify a bad deal — just that SeatGeek doesn't know enough to give a good answer.

I really like math. Can I learn more about Deal Score?

We've written about Deal Score several times on the SeatGeek blog. Here's the first half of a great two-part article by Steve, the chief data scientist behind Deal Score.

What are paperless mobile tickets?

Paperless mobile tickets must be shown on a mobile device for entry. They’ll be transferred to you either via Ticketmaster or from the team directly - not from SeatGeek.

I can’t find the email with my paperless mobile tickets.

We have a couple of tips for you! The invite to claim your paperless mobile tickets will be sent to the email address used when placing your SeatGeek order. Once you locate the email with your ticket transfer, follow the simple prompts within the email to access the tickets.

Still can’t find the email? Sometimes, the tickets will come directly from the seller so rather than searching your inbox for “SeatGeek”, try searching the team’s name.

Note: paperless mobile tickets will be sent to you from Ticketmaster or the team directly. They will not be delivered in your SeatGeek app.

I haven’t received my paperless mobile tickets yet.

Depending on the venue, some tickets are not available until closer to the event. However, your tickets will be on their way shortly! Keep an eye out for an email from either Ticketmaster or from the team prompting you to accept the tickets.

How do I accept paperless mobile tickets?

To accept and view your paperless mobile tickets, look out for an email coming directly from Ticketmaster or the team. Once the tickets are ready, they’ll send you an email prompting you to accept the ticket transfer. Simply follow the link in the email to accept the tickets!

I’ve accepted my paperless mobile tickets but I can’t see them.

Sometimes the tickets or QR codes are not viewable until the day of the event. This is a policy enforced by venues to keep your tickets safe. Rest assured as long as you’ve accepted those tickets, they are yours and barcodes will appear either via Ticketmaster or the team’s app in time for the game.

Which teams provide paperless mobile tickets?

Delivery types change every season but currently, teams providing paperless mobile tickets are the Yankees, Cubs, Braves, Wizards, Capitals, Cavaliers, Cowboys, Lions and Rockets. The NCAA Final Four and the Cotton Bowl will also use paperless tickets.

Can I change the format of these paperless mobile tickets?

The venue determines the format of the tickets, so sadly, SeatGeek cannot change the delivery format. This will be the method of entry for the majority of attendees to your event.

Where do I enter my SeatGeek promo code?

You can enter a promo code on the Payment tab of your account settings (or from the Me tab on mobile web and our iPhone app, and the Settings tab in our Android app). You can also enter a promo code on the checkout screen for eligible listings.

Why isn't my promo code working at checkout?

Many promo codes have restrictions on them, including but not limited to: minimum purchase amount, first-time buyer only, and expiration date. You can view restrictions for any code you have applied on your account page.

Why can't I use my promo code on all tickets?

SeatGeek lists tickets from many markets and sellers, but not all markets support promo code use. Look for ticket listings that bear the SeatGeek logo - the majority of those tickets support promo codes. Any tickets that don't support promo codes will have a disclaimer when you view the ticket details.

Can I use more than one promo code on a purchase?

You may only apply one promo code to a purchase, but you may apply multiple promo codes to your account in your account settings and use other codes toward a future purchase (with the exception of first-time buyer promotions). If you have multiple promo codes saved to your account, we will automatically apply the newest applicable code to your next purchase, but you may choose to remove it or change to an alternate promo code on the checkout screen.

Why are you asking me to sign in to use a promo code? I don't have an account!

Promo codes can only be used when you are signed into a SeatGeek account. It's easy and free to register and your information is safe and secure with us! It also makes future purchases a breeze.

What is SeatGeek's "tracker" feature?

Tracker is a list of your favorite artists, teams, and upcoming events. When you track a performer or event on SeatGeek, we use it to…

  1. notify you of relevant things like just-announced shows or drops in ticket prices for events that you want to attend
  2. make recommendations about other artists and events in your area that we think you'll like

How do I adjust my tracker settings?

You can view, add, or remove artists or events from your tracker list at seatgeek.com/account/tracker. You can also track performers and events on SeatGeek by clicking the "Track" slider near the top of performer and/or event pages.

Can I use my phone to get into the event?

You can now use the SeatGeek app to enter easily at hundreds of stadiums, arenas and theatres. This means that, depending on which event you're attending, you may be able to use your phone to get in - no printing required! When your e-tickets are delivered in the app, you can view them in the my tickets section to make sure they are valid for use on a mobile device. When you arrive at the event, simply pull up the ticket barcode in the app, and you're good to go.

Some venues do require that you print your tickets before arrival - so make sure to check for any instructions that will appear in the app and via email. If you still aren't sure what type of ticket your venue will accept, you can always contact our customer support team for instant answers!

My tickets say "Not valid for entry via mobile device", what's up with that?

Some venues will print this on the ticket to discourage people from zooming in on the tickets pdf on their phone.

This doesn't mean that the venue will not allow the use of the mobile entry barcode through the SeatGeek app. If the barcode is generated and displays in the SeatGeek app, you'll be good to go!

How do I add tickets to SeatGeek?

You can upload e-ticket PDFs on seatgeek.com and in the iOS app. Visit “My Tickets” on your computer and you'll see a box near the top of the page with some more information to help you get started. On iOS, head over to the “My Tickets” tab where you'll find a helpful “Add” button in the top right corner.

What kind of tickets can I add to SeatGeek?

You can upload original e-ticket PDF files that come directly from the vendor. Good examples:

  • You purchased e-tickets from another site and received an email with a PDF file containing your e-tickets
  • Your friend bought e-tickets to a show and sent you a PDF file containing your e-ticket

We don’t currently support uploading the following:

  • Scans or photos of paper tickets (even if saved as a PDF file)
  • Tickets for events in the past
  • Tickets for events that aren't already on SeatGeek (you can search with the box in blue navigation bar at the top of this page)

Note: e-tickets you’ve purchased on SeatGeek should automatically appear in “My Tickets” in the SeatGeek app and website.

What are the benefits of adding a ticket to SeatGeek?

Adding an e-ticket to SeatGeek lets you use your mobile device as your ticket to events that support mobile entry. Adding tickets to SeatGeek also makes it easy to send the ticket to someone else or list for sale on the SeatGeek Marketplace.

What does it mean to “Send” tickets?

Sending a ticket to someone on SeatGeek is just like giving or selling someone a paper ticket, except that it’s electronic, happens instantly, and you can automatically charge money for a ticket if you wish.

When would I want to send tickets?

Sending tickets is useful in many scenarios. You might send a ticket to a friend so that she can meet you inside the venue or if you have an extra ticket to an event and can no longer use it.

How long will it take before I get paid?

After the recipient accepts your tickets, you should get paid in 2-5 business days.

Does SeatGeek charge any fees when I send tickets with an included price?

Nope!

Which tickets can I send on SeatGeek?

You can upload original e-ticket PDF files that come directly from the vendor. We don’t currently support PDFs of tickets that are scanned in. E-tickets you’ve purchased on SeatGeek should automatically appear in “My Tickets” in the SeatGeek app and website.

Can I send tickets to someone who doesn’t have the SeatGeek app?

Yes. When they accept the tickets, they’ll see instructions on how to download their tickets.

Can I undo sending a ticket after someone has already accepted it?

No. Once you send tickets to someone and that person accepts, the tickets have been transferred to that person's account. However, you can cancel sending if the recipient has not yet accepted the tickets.

How do I list tickets?

You can list tickets by visiting the “My Tickets” tab on our website, viewing the ticket details for a specific event, and clicking the “Sell Tickets” button. If the tickets you want to sell are not currently in your SeatGeek account, you can learn how to add tickets to SeatGeek.

Why do I need to have a credit card on file in order to sell tickets?

We require all sellers to have a valid credit card on file but we will not charge it unless the seller is unable to fulfill their duties. In the unlikely case that there’s an issue with the validity of the tickets sold, a seller’s card may be charged a penalty as well as the cost to replace the tickets (up to 200% of the order cost).

When you list tickets on SeatGeek Marketplace, you may see a temporary authorization on this credit card. This is a security measure to verify the validity of your card.

Does SeatGeek charge a fee for listing and selling tickets?

Listing tickets on SeatGeek is completely free. When your tickets are successfully sold, we take a 20% fee off of the purchase price. For example, if you sell 1 ticket for $100 you’ll be charged a $20 fee and be paid $80.

How long will it take to get paid after selling tickets?

We will send your payout after the event ends but it will take up to 5 business days for the money to appear in your Venmo or bank account.

How do I edit my listing?

If you’d like to adjust the price on your SeatGeek Marketplace listing, you can visit the “My Tickets” tab on our website and view the ticket details for the listing you’d like to modify. Update your listing with the desired price in the designated field. If you’d like to change the quantity of your listing, we recommend deactivating your tickets (see “How do I deactivate my listing?”) and creating a new listing with the updated quantity.

I sold tickets - why did I get charged?

If your credit card has been charged, that means that there was an issue with the tickets you sold on the SeatGeek Marketplace. Our Trust & Safety team always contacts sellers before charging them, so please check your email for a notification.

What is a payout?

A payout is the money that SeatGeek sends you after your tickets sell.

What is a payout method?

A payout method is the way we’ll pay you. We currently support two payout methods: your bank account or your Venmo account. At the moment, we can only support payouts to bank and Venmo accounts in the United States.

What is Venmo?

Venmo is an online service for sending and receiving money that you can use to get paid for selling tickets on SeatGeek. You can use it with a mobile phone number and/or email address. Learn more about Venmo.

How do I add a payout method?

To add a payout method go to your Account Settings page and navigate to the Payment & Shipping tab. This is also where you can edit your payout method in the future. If you do not have a payout method selected the first time you sell tickets you will be prompted to add a payout method.

How many payout methods can I add?

You can currently only add one payout method to your account. You can edit your payout method by visiting your Account Settings page and navigating to the Payment & Shipping tab.

How long will it take to get paid after selling tickets?

We will send your payout after the event ends but it will take up to 5 business days for the money to appear in your Venmo or bank account.

Can I change my payout method?

You can. However, it's important to remember that the active payout method at the time a payout is released is where the money will go. For example, you might have your bank account set up as your payout method today, and you sell tickets to an event happening 3 months from now. If you change your payout method to a Venmo account between now and the event you sold tickets for, the payout for that sale would go to your Venmo account.

Why was I paid a different amount than I expected?

It is possible for payouts that happen at similar times to get grouped together, so you may notice this if you make multiple sales for events that happen on similar dates.

I'm having trouble adding a payout method.

If you're having trouble entering a payout method successfully, you may want to try an alternate account. If the issue persists, please contact your bank to make sure your account is in good standing. If the issue is not resolved by any of these solutions, you may want to use a different bank or venmo account by changing it in your settings.

What are SeatGeek recommendations?

Based on your preferences and the preferences of other SeatGeek users with similar tastes, SeatGeek makes predictions about artists and concerts that we think you'll like and/or that you might have forgotten to track on your own.

What influences the recommendations that SeatGeek makes for me?

Actions you take on SeatGeek (e.g. tracking or buying a ticket to a concert) and on other networks (e.g. liking a band on Facebook or listening to a song on Spotify or Last.fm) give us clues about what types of things you like. We use these signals to tailor artist and event recommendations just for you.

You can explicitly tell us which artists and events you're interested in by adjusting your tracker settings at seatgeek.com/account/tracker.

How can I improve the recommendations that SeatGeek makes for me?

To help us make more relevant recommendations, all you need to do is track more artists.

Are SeatGeek recommendations available in an API?

They sure are. For full documentation of SeatGeek's API and other developer resources, visit platform.seatgeek.com.

Where does SeatGeek get its venue maps?

SeatGeek's venue maps are all homemade. We were disappointed with the quality of venue maps that we saw on other ticketing sites and even on venues' own websites, so we decided to design and build better ones ourselves. We're constantly working to cover new venues and add new features to the maps to make them even more useful.

Why don't all venues have maps?

We've spent a lot of time designing and making the venue maps on SeatGeek, but we haven't covered every venue just yet. It's only a matter of time…

What do the multi-colored dots on the map mean?

The multi-colored dots on the map are available tickets, mapped to their corresponding section and row. We also call these dots "pins". The color of each pin is an indicator of its Deal Score. Green pins represent the best available ticket deals, red pins are the worst.

Can I see individual rows in SeatGeek venue maps?

Yep! Row-level detail will appear as you zoom in on the venue map. You can do this using your keyboard's +/- keys, your mouse's scroll wheel, or – if you are on a mobile device – pinch-and-zoom.

Can I see individual seats in SeatGeek venue maps?

Unfortunately not. Though we would like for the answer to be "Yes", the quality of seat-level data that we pull from sellers' websites isn't reliable enough for this to work. Many sellers don't even provide seat numbers of the tickets they are offering at all. For this reason, we only show row-level detail in our search results and venue maps.

What is Seat View?

Seat View is the name for the images embedded in our venue maps that show the view from a particular section. If we have images for the venue where you're looking, you can find the Seat View images by clicking on one of the pins on the venue map.

SeatGeek also has webpages for individual sections at some venues. These pages include large, high-res Seat View images. Here's an example for section 214 at Madison Square Garden.
