In organic chemistry, the term cyanomethyl (cyanide (N≡C) + methyl (CH3)) designates:

  • A cyanomethyl group (N≡CCH2)
  • The cyanomethyl radical (N≡CCH2·)
  • The cyanomethyl carbanion (N≡CCH2)
