When Grant Kessler was ready to meet his brand new niece, he knew he wanted to make an impression.

That's how the 18-year-old found himself in a Columbus, Ohio hospital waiting room dressed in his best suit – and how he went on to become an internet darling.

Grant's big sister Olivia gave birth to her baby daughter Carter on January 4, and her younger siblings – Bronwen, 20, Grant, 18, and Iris, 16 – turned up to meet the baby.

Grant arrived in a suit and tie, even wearing a tie clip, and the moment was shared by his sister Iris on Twitter.

"My sister is about to have a baby and my brother showed up to the hospital in a suit because 'first impressions matter'," she captioned a photo of the dapper uncle in the waiting room.

It has since been retweeted 117,000 times, and liked 390,000 times, with many commenting on how sweet Grant's move was.

"A real gentleman. Gives me hope for this world," one stranger tweeted.

A later photo, captioned "mutual respect", shows him with baby Carter.

Iris told BuzzFeed News that the outfit was "totally classic" Grant behaviour.

"He's always the type to show up to things dressed up, or bring a cake for no reason," she said.

Of course Carter won't remember the moment she met her uncle, but as Iris said, "She's going to grow up hearing this story so I'm sure she will know that it happened, and think it's funny".
