A man has died after his semi-trailer overturned near Clyde Mountain on the road to Batemans Bay Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman for NSW police confirmed the male truck driver had died following the incident near the intersection of River Forest Road.

"It was right at the top of the mountain," she said. "As you head towards Batemans Bay."

He had been travelling south on the Kings Highway near Braidwood when his truck rolled around 8 am.

Emergency services and police were still on the scene, with Rural Fire Service crews reporting diesel spillage from the truck.

Traffic is affected in both directions and one lane remains closed.

"It was on one of the hairpin turns," she said. "There were at least six police cars, fire and rescue and ambulance all there and they were still getting the person out of the car when we went by.

"I heard sirens earlier around 8.30am."
