DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan self-immolated at around 5 pm local time today (8 December) on the streets of Machu county in Tibet's Amdo Province. According to a video received, a body is seen engulfed in flames . A woman standing nearby is heard reciting prayers in the name of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The video also shows police arriving at the scene and taking away the charred body. More

DHARAMSHALA: Sonam Tobgyal, a 26-year-old Tibetan monk from Kyegudo, set himself on fire at around 6 pm on 9 July at Gesar Square, Kyegudo in Yulshul Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Incorporated into China’s Qinghai Province) in protest against the repressive policies of the Chinese government in Tibet. Local Tibetans who witnessed the incident took him to a nearby hospital. More

DHARAMSHALA: Tenzin Gyatso, a father of four children in his mid thirties, died after setting himself on fire around 8:00 p.m on 20 May in an apparent protest against the Chinese government’s repressive policies in Tibet. DHARAMSHALA: Chinese police detained Tswang Choephel, a Tibetan monk from Nyitso monastery in Tawu county, Kardze (Ch: Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (incorporated into China’s Sichuan Province) at around 10:30 am on 18 May, media reports say. Chinese authorities have not disclosed the reason for the monk’s detention. More

DHARAMSHALA: A Tibetan man, Sangye Khar, aged 34, set himself on fire yesterday around 9 am (local time) in front of a police station in Amchok town, Sangchu county in Kanlho Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (incorporated into China's Gansu Province). He died on the spot, according to media reports and human rights group. Police arrived shortly after the self-immolation and forcibly removed his body. More
