Jefferson Airplane was a San Francisco, California band that pioneered psychedelic rock and defined the 1960's counterculture movement during one of the most tumultuous times in United States history. The first Bay Area group to achieve international commercial success, they were headliners at the three most notable American rock festivals of their era —Monterey (1967), Woodstock (1969) and Altamont (1969)—as well as the first Isle of Wight Festival (1968) in England. Their 1967 break-out record Surrealistic Pillow ranks on the short list of most significant recordings of the "Summer of Love." Two songs from that album, "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit", are among Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."
The "classic" line-up of Jefferson Airplane remained stable from 1967 to early 1970, and consisted of Marty Balin, Jack Casady, Spencer Dryden, Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen and Grace Slick. The group broke up in 1972, and essentially split into the two bands, Hot Tuna and Jefferson Starship. Jefferson Airplane was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, and honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.
The White Rabbit is a fictional character in Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. He appears at the very beginning of the book, in chapter one, wearing a waistcoat, and muttering "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" Alice follows him down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. Alice encounters him again when he mistakes her for his housemaid Mary Ann and she becomes trapped in his house after growing too large. The Rabbit shows up again in the last few chapters, as a herald-like servant of the King and Queen of Hearts.
In his article "Alice on the Stage," Carroll wrote "And the White Rabbit, what of him? Was he framed on the "Alice" lines, or meant as a contrast? As a contrast, distinctly. For her 'youth,' 'audacity,' 'vigour,' and 'swift directness of purpose,' read 'elderly,' 'timid,' 'feeble,' and 'nervously shilly-shallying,' and you will get something of what I meant him to be. I think the White Rabbit should wear spectacles. I'm sure his voice should quaver, and his knees quiver, and his whole air suggest a total inability to say 'Boo' to a goose!"

Jefferson Airplane's diamonds performed at Woodstock, on 17th August 1969 . "Somebody to Love", written by Darby Slick and "White rabbit", written by Grace Slick. It was back in the year 2008. I had just started listening to Jefferson Airplane. I had looked them up due to a reference John Densmore does in his book "Riders on the storm" to the song "White rabbit"; I was very impressed by the lyrics and...well, the rest is history I guess :) Searching through youtube, I found this very video that I have posted here. Sadly, it was taken down shortly after that, probably due to copyright issues and shit. So, I decided to upload it and make it available for everyone again. Jefferson Airplane's performance of these two songs is included in a film called "Woodstock:The Director's Cut" by Mic...

Jefferson Airplane, White Rabbit , Live from Woodstock 1969 with Lyrics by John Anderson @ Kilo Kilo Studio (UK). Grace Slick's Lyrics are based on her early life as a child, being read the books of Lewis Carroll's 1865 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its 1871 sequel Through the Looking-Glass ...hence the references to the hookah-smoking caterpillar, the White Knight, the Red Queen, and the Dormouse. The Jeffersons Full Episodes
Chemical change like a laser beam
you've shattered the warning amber light
Make me warm
let me see you moving everything over
smiling in my room
you know you'll be inside of my mind soon.
There are so many of you.
White shirt and tie, white shirt and tie,
white shirt and tie, wedding ring, wedding ring.
Mulligan stew for Bloom,
the only Jew in the room
Saxon's sick on the holy dregs
and their constant getting throw up on his leg.
Molly's gone to blazes,
Boylan's crotch amazes
any woman whose husband sleeps with his head
all buried down at the foot of his bed.
I've got his arm
I've got his arm
I've had it for weeks
I've got his arm
Steven won't give his arm
to no gold star mother's farm;
War's good business so give your son
and I'd rather have my country die for me.
Sell your mother for a Hershey bar
grow up looking like a car
there are;
All you want to do is live,
all you want to do is give but
