January can be a bleak time of year, with the memories of festive fun fading fast and the warmth of spring still a distant prospect.

But Karen Danczuk looked anything but blue on a January day spent sunning herself poolside on Spain's Costa Blanca.

The 33-year-old former Labour councillor and so-called 'selfie queen' wore a plunging patterned one-piece as she was snapped lounging beside the water, cooling off in the shower, and sipping on a drink.

Karen's sunshine escape comes after she appeared on Good Morning Britain to give her first interview after her brother was jailed for sexually abusing her and two other women.

The mum of two, who split from the Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk in 2015, told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid at the time that she felt 'no anger' towards her older brother Michael Burke, 38, after he was sentenced for a catalogue of sex crimes following a trial at Manchester Crown Court in November.

Mother-of-two Danczuk also revealed that the stream of scantily-clad selfies that saw her shoot to fame two years ago - and prompted her 'selfie queen' nickname - were actually a cry for help following the attacks, as she wanted to 'prove I was wanted and that people liked me'.
