'What is happening to me?': At long last, the music video for Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik's collaborative song I Don't Wanna Live Forever debuted online Thursday

It's the erstwhile One Direction member who stars in the opening of the video, fielding photographers as he exits his car.

He lip-syncs the first verse, which sees him slide into his querulous falsetto, as he strolls through the hotel's lobby, a paparazzo still in pursuit.

Once he enters one of the lifts after the first chorus, the 24-year-old finds himself bathed in alternatively red and green light, leaning against the walls.

The walk: He lip-syncs the first verse, which sees him slide into his querulous falsetto, as he strolls through the St Pancras Renaissance London hotel's lobby, a paparazzo still in pursuit

Also in a lift heading upwards is his 27-year-old fellow singer on this number, whose head lolls about her shoulders as she herself mimes her verse.

Emerging from the lift into a lavishly decorated upstairs corridor, she clutches her blonde hair as the song veers into the line: 'What is happening to me?'

Launching for a second time into the chorus, the music video ultimately sees her enter a hotel room, where a besuited Malik's already in wait.

One of the signature masks from the film's adverts hangs from the front door of the room, wherein she pours Champagne and plucks white rose petals.

Then, the trashing begins: a plugged-in lamp pulled from its socket and hurled to the floor, mirrors smashed, pillows flung, various objects chucked hither and thither.

Released last month, I Don't Wanna Live Forever was co-written by Swift alongside Lena Dunham's boyfriend Jack Antonoff and LoveHate Thing scribe Sam Dew.
