'We're completely in love!' Alex Jones, 39, delightedly reveals she's given birth to a baby boy... as she announces news live on The One Show
The One Show host Alex Jones and her husband Charlie Thomson have delightedly welcomed their first child to the world.
Delivering the news via a phone call on the live BBC programme on Thursday evening, the 39-year-old TV favourite revealed to her co-host Matt Baker and stand in Angela Scanlon that she has given birth to a baby boy.
After departing the show for maternity leave earlier this month, she soon returned, albeit on the phone, as she delivered the exciting news where she revealed that the birth was 'straight-forward' and 'lovely'.
Speaking on the show, the joyous star said: 'Well I do have news! Our beautiful baby boy was born. We are absolutely delighted and completely in love... It's the most wonderful feeling. He was 7lb 11... A lovely weight. Very straight forward.
'It was lovely. Charlie was with me and my mum and dad were in the waiting room. The past four days we has been in heaven. We're in a bubble.
'We're behind on the name thing but because we didn' know the sex we thought when we see him we'll know what he is. Maybe I can have some help?
'Everytime we ask people they have suggestions. We can ask viewers. I want to say thank you to the viewers who sent gifts. He has the biggest collection of cardigans EVER.'

Say what! Alex's co-host Matt Baker and stand-in Angela Scanlon were delighted to hear their colleague's news
Just 10 hours before her big announcement, Alex took to Instagram to share a flashback to last year's National Television Awards, as she revealed she was watching this year's show at home with her feet up.
She added a caption on the shot reading: 'TBT last years #nationaltelevisionawards @officialntas Thanks to everyone who voted this year and congratulations to #thismorning. It looked like a fun night on telly. #maryberry winning made me cry. #hormones #maternityleave'.
In September, Alex confirmed she was expecting her first child with Charlie, who she married on New Year's Eve 2015 in an idyllic ceremony at Cardiff Castle in her native Wales.
She announced the news in a tweet, writing: 'Charlie & I are very happy to confirm that we're expecting a baby in the new year. Feel so lucky that we're about to become parents. Xx.'

Earlier this year Alex spoke of her fear that she may have left it too late to become a mother, after she found out shortly after her wedding that her mum went through early menopause at 43 – making her realise that the 'clock is truly ticking'.
In April 2016, while speaking at the Fertility Health Summit, she discussed the moment her mother told her she had been through premature menopause.
The conversation arose when they were talking about an upcoming documentary on fertility which Alex has worked on: ‘I was having a conversation with Mum and my sister Jen about the show and mum dropped it really casually into conversation.
‘She said “Yeah because I started the menopause at 43” and she was cutting Victoria sponge at the time. I said “What do you mean?” and she said “Well I started going through the menopause at 43”.'

In an interview with This Morning in September, Alex revealed her 'naivety' over the timespan of her own fertility.
Talking about her documentary Alex Jones: Fertility & Me, where she focused on the topic when she was aged 38, she said: 'My mum went through the menopause at 43 and that's six years older than me.
'I wasn't pregnant when I filmed the documentary. I was 38 and it was terrifying. I was naive. I knew age impacts your fertility but I didn't realise to what extent.'
Earlier this month, the TV host burst into tears as she said her goodbyes to The One Show ahead of her maternity leave. She struggled to maintain her composure as her co-stars gifted her with a sweet babygro emblazoned with the words 'I listen with mummy'.

A great mum: A video message from Alex's mum played: 'I know you're going to be a great mum, Alex, and I can't wait to meet my grandchild
But co-host Patrick Kielty managed to lighten the mood, presenting her with personalised nappies, entitled Paddy Poops. Chuckling at their faces superimposed on the packaging, he added: 'Now this was supposed to be cute - I didn't realise how it was going to turn out. It looks like you're breastfeeding a Bond villain!'

'It's the best team ever here and I'll miss everyone very much,' Alex exclaimed, stifling a sob as she waved goodbye to the cameras.
