'I don't think it served our purpose': Cyndi Lauper criticizes Madonna's Women's March speech on WWHL
Cyndi Lauper criticized Madonna's profanity-laced speech at the Women's March on Wednesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live.
The 63-year-old singer was asked by host Andy Cohen, 48, about her thoughts on Madonna's fiery speech on Saturday during the massive rally in Washington, DC.
Madonna, 58, told the audience how she at times was angry after the election and had thought 'an awful lot about blowing up the White House'.

'I was glad that she went,' Lauper said. 'I think it happens a lot when you are really jacked up, feeling your emotions. I don't think it served our purpose because anger is not better than clarity and humanity.'
Lauper praised Scarlett Johansson, 32, for her personal speech about using Planned Parenthood services as a teen.
'She shared her story. It was clear and it was eloquent. Yelling doesn't. It just jacks people up but it doesn't communicate any type of humanity or any kind of story that would open another person's mind,' Lauper said.
Madonna has defended her speech that included four F-bombs and said her words were 'taken wildly out of context'.
Fiery speech: Madonna during her Women's March speech on Saturday talked about being angry after the election and thinking 'an awful lot about blowing up the White House'
Madonna stated in her impassioned speech: 'I'm angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.
But I know that this won't change anything.
'We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, "We must love one another or die." I choose love. Are you with me?'
Out of context: Madonna took to Instagram to defend her speech and said one phrase was 'taken wildly out of context' and that she's not a violent person

Lauper appeared on the Bravo chat show along with rock legend Sir Rod Stewart, 72.
The British singer resumes his Las Vegas residency Rod Stewart: The Hits at Caesars Palace on March 15.
Stewart will be taking his act on the road and will be joined by Lauper in July in Florida.

Cohen played a game of Who Colors in which Stewart and Lauper had to identify famous people they took pictures with but with the celebrity's face obscured.
Lauper showed a strong photographic memory as she remembered photos with Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, Pee-Wee Herman and Billy Joel with Hall & Oates.
Stewart didn't recall taking a 1979 photo at a UNICEF concert with Olivia-Newton John but still liked the game.

Stewart was first asked to estimate how many women he's had sex with in his life.
'No idea. It's an insult, a horrible question. I refuse to answer,' Stewart initially replied.
'Three,' he said. 'Amazing because I have eight kids. Moving on.'
First question: Andy asked Rod how many women he's had sex with in his entire life
Cohen then referenced Stewart's 2012 autobiography in which he described losing a cocaine-snorting competition to Belinda Carlisle and The Go-Go's.
He asked Stewart who was the most famous person he did cocaine with back in the day.
'One famous person. ...Argentinian footballer. Wow,' Stewart answered to his own surprise.

Cohen then referenced the autobiography again and asked Stewart if he still felt he has a better voice than Mick Jagger.
'Certain songs and Mick is still a great performer,' Stewart replied.
'Thanks. He didn't Plead the Fifth,' Cohen said.
Touring together: Cyndi will join Rod on his tour in July in Florida
Stewart and Lauper during the half-hour show also shared thoughts and memories on late pop stars George Michael, David Bowie, Prince, Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson.
Lauper recalled wearing the same jacket as her label mate Jackson while making We Are The World.
'My label mate and a great guy,' Lauper said. 'Not here, we're here. That's real good.'
Cool customers: Rod and Cyndi wore sunglasses at the start of the show
Weekly tradition: Andy, Cyndi and Rod did a shotski together
'A lot not here,' Stewart said reflectively.
'I'm not feeling very well myself,' he quipped.
Cohen ended the show with his Mazel of the Day being a tribute to actress Mary Tyler Moore who died on Wednesday at age 80.
A trio of Stewart superfans were behind the bar at the Bravo clubhouse.
