Sherri Shepherd's ex-husband Lamar Sally prepares to use her own Christmas card against her in court as bitter child support battle continues

Perhaps this star can blame the silly season for this potentially expensive slip up.

Sherri Shepherd may find herself headed back to court in California after her Christmas card confirmed she was living in the state despite claiming otherwise to keep her child support battle in New Jersey.

The 49-year-old star sent out holiday cards featuring herself, her oldest son Jeffery and former President Barack Obama telling friends and family about her move, TMZ reports.

While that sounds like a lovely gesture, the card - which the website has obtained - states, 'I took a leap of faith and moved us back to Los Angeles and we couldn't be more happy to be with our friends and family'.

But that update may cost her big as, according to TMZ, her former husband Lamar Sally now plans to use the card to prove that she is living in California and so their child support case should be heard there.

Lamar had filed papers last month in California pushing for more money to raise their son, Lamar Sally, Jr - whom Sherri does not recognize as her child as he was born via surrogate.

The couple had both agreed to have the child using Lamar's sperm, a donor egg and the surrogate but they split before the child was born.

Lamar - who was married to the Precious actress less than three years before their May 2014 separation - is currently getting $6,400 a month in support, in addition to healthcare and insurance from his ex. 

Last week a Californian judge ruled the case should remain under the jurisdiction of New Jersey where it has been heard previously as that is where the pair resided.

In California, Lamar could be given a lot more in child support than in New Jersey, where he is already getting far more than the state usually approves - and this is why the Christmas card becomes so important. 

Following the ruling in court - and prior to the Christmas card drama - Sherri's representatives issued a statement to People crowing about their client's 'huge victory' in family court.

'Sally and his counsel were humiliated as the judge flat out denied his request,' they said.

The reps, noting the geographic implications swirling around the legal situation, added that 'the California judge agreed with Shepherd's counsel Terry Levich Ross, Esq. and determined that by Sally's own agreement in two separate legal judgments, New Jersey has exclusive and ongoing jurisdiction over this child support issue and all matters must be dealt with only in that state.' 

'Shepherd now hopes that her ex will stop his frivolous attempts to get more money out of her,' the reps said, 'and will seek gainful employment to take care of his child like any other capable parent.'   

But Lamar is not the only one claiming their ex spouse is being dishonest, with Sherri putting her former love on blast Tuesday night by posting his dating profile from Where Black People on her Twitter.

The talk show host's social media rage finally ended with Sherri posting one final message to fans.

'Rants over. I'm done. Back to normal... going to pray for my steps to get back on track. Thanks for letting me vent #goodnight,' she tweeted. 

It had been a long day of tweets from Sherri as she had plenty to get off her chest Tuesday after a California judge denied hearing lamar's bid for a child support raise.

The Chicago native said on Twitter Tuesday that she's 'always offered to financially care for my ex-husband's son,' who was conceived with Sally's sperm and a donor's egg, with surrogate Jessica Bartholomew giving birth to the boy August 5, 2014. 

Lamar's demand were unfair and 'allowed him to not work,' The View personality said in a tweet, offering specifics on Lamar's career (as a writer and substitute teacher) and work schedule.

'My ex-husband says he works part-time 20-30 hours a week, I work a min of 15-hours a day,' wrote the star, adding she believed Lamar was asking for 'an amount borne from greed and deception.'

She declared, 'I have always had to hustle to take care of mine.'
