Arm of support! Christina Ricci is joined by onscreen husband David Hoflin at premiere of her new Amazon show Z: The Beginning Of Everything

The SVA Theatre in Manhattan's Chelsea neighbourhood played host to the premiere of Amazon's forthcoming show Z: The Beginning Of Everything.

Christina Ricci, who portrays the leading character Zelda Fitzgerald - wife of F Scott - bared a bit of her enviably taut midriff at Wednesday's event.

Beside her stood her onscreen husband David Hoflin, who'd worn a sky blue suit with camel-coloured shoes and a navy tie.

Big night: Christina Ricci spent Wednesday evening at the premiere of her new Amazon series Z: The Beginning Of Everything, in which she stars as Zelda Fitzgerald

Ricci's blonde hair cascaded over her shoulders, one of which was entirely covered and the other of which supported only a thin black strap.

Her black top flowed into the high and tight waistline of her ensemble's skirt section, all of which was finely pleated and roughly a third of which was black.

The other two thirds featured a splotchy red, green, white and blue pattern, and she completed her outfit with pale grey heels.

Update your cocktail attire with a pretty print like Christina's

Christina Ricci attended the premiere of her forthcoming show, Z: The Beginning Of Everything wearing this flirty cocktail dress from Hugo Boss' Spring collection.

This dress is a study in scale and proportion-- the principal elements of all masterpieces. Every sartorial decision in Christina's look is masterfully balanced out-- for instance the vibrant asymmetrical pleating is offset by the cerebral spanse of black fabric. And the one strap shoulder design with a flash of Christina's flank balanced out the demure ankle length hem of this dress perfectly.

You've probably picked up on the fact that we're enamored by this look over here at Fashion Finder, which is why we're sad to say that it won't be available for purchase till later this season.

In the meantime, feel free to browse the current collection by clicking right or get inspired with one of the alternatives in the edit below!

David, whose hair was slicked severely back, looked smart as he joined Christina at the event.

Based on Therese Anne Fowler's 2013 book Z: A Novel Of Zelda Fitzgerald, the new programme will premiere its 10-episode first series on the streaming service Friday.

Ricci's among the executive producers on the project, which has been created by Dawn Preswich and Nicole Yorkin.

Though it starts before Alabama-born Zelda Sayre met Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, the show will venture through their turbulent marriage and hard-partying lifestyle in the glamorous upper echelons of 1920s New York.

Among the characters on the series will be Tallulah Bankhead, whose sister Eugenia's been portrayed by 33-year-old actress Natalie Knepp.

Knepp turned up to Wednesday's premiere in a sleeveless zaffre jumpsuit with loose, flowing legs and a small triangle carved out over her flat midriff.

Her curled dark brown hair cascaded about her glinting hoop earrings, and bright yellow shoes poked out from beneath her hems.

Tallulah herself will be played by Christina Bennett Lind, whose intricately patterned dress featured lacy long black sleeves and identical fabric over the cleavage.

Black diamond shapes sat at her bust and matching lines streaked down the sides of her skirt, much of the rest of which was silver.

Her brown hair tossed over one shoulder, she'd worn bright red lipstick that matched her fingernails, and she'd slipped into black and brown wedges.

Holly Curran, who's featuring as Zelda's sister Clothilde 'Tilde' Sayre, wore a black cocktail dress with angular streaks of flesh tone near the waist.

Similar streaks appeared near her knees, between rings of ruffles that encircled her impressively svelte legs. A scaly pattern snaked over the sleeveless outfit.

Meanwhile, Zelda's friend Eleanor Browder's been played by Sarah Schnekkan, whose busily designed multicoloured dress had frequent lacy black trim.

Eight years after the The Great Gatsby author died of a heart attack, his wife was killed by a fire at the North Carolina sanatorium where she was a patient. He'd lived to be only 40, she to be 47.
