Frozen in time: Inside the haunting 19th century mansion where books, soft toys, and even children's sporting trophies have been left behind after it was abandoned in a hurry

  •  The spooky pictures were taken at a mansion in Maryland by Hal S. Edelson, 52, from Philadelphia
  • The home looks as though it has been left in a hurry with a lot of the original furniture still left in place
  • Hal used a Nikon D800 camera to take the eerie pictures inside the once-lavish abandoned house

Haunting images have revealed the crumbling interior of a once-luxurious Maryland mansion that has been left to rot after its wealthy owners moved on.

The home looks as though it has been left in a hurry with not just the furniture left behind, but also books, pictures, toys, and even sporting trophies.

With decaying walls, flaking paint and peeling wallpaper the mansion is a far cry from its former self.

The bedrooms offer a glimpse into how the former owners lived, with fully made beds and paintings still taking pride of place over the fireplace in one room.

In one photograph, a lone suitcase sits abandoned in a decadent bay window, while in another, a pile of books lie on a coffee table.

In what looks to be a child's bedroom, a soft toy still sits on the bed and dance trophies have been left behind on a shelf.
