Ernest Thurston Hall (May 10, 1882 – February 20, 1958) was an American film actor. At 22 in 1904 he was in the first stage production of Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch. He appeared in 250 films between 1915 and 1957 and is remembered for his portrayal, during the later stages of his career, of often pompous or blustering authority figures. Early in his silent career he supported Theda Bara in her vamp-costume dramas.
Hall's best-known television role was as Mr. Schuyler, the boss of Cosmo Topper (played by Leo G. Carroll), in the 1950s television series, Topper (1953–1956). Hall was married to Quenda Hackett (1897–1984).

STATEMENT OF CANDIDACY Do you remember the first time you stepped foot on the GW-campus? Do you remember the excitment or, for some, the nerves you felt when freshmen year was to start? Our arrival was anticipated, as the Class of 2015 was to bring many new attributes to the GW community. But in order to reach our full potential we must strive for "Mens sana in corpore sano". This Latin quote is translated into a sound mind in a healthy body. With a sound mind in a healthy body, we gain the advantage to excel far above our peers. The one factor that can add to us having a sound mind in a healthy body is our living environment. My name is William Hanna. I write this statement today to announce my candidacy for the Executive Chair position of Thurston Hall. I believe that I am the best pe...

In this high-spirited musical comedy, J. Newport Bates (Eddie Bracken) is a millionaire who finds women are only interested in him for his money. When he becomes infatuated with Teddy Collins (Veronica Lake), a cigarette girl, he tries to hide his true identity from her, hoping she'll be interested in him for himself rather than his bank account. However, once Teddy figures out who he is, Bates drops her, and he is about to give up on women entirely when he meets Sue Thomas (Marjorie Reynolds), a nice girl who isn't interested in his money (or at least not yet). Musical satirists Spike Jones and his City Slickers also appear, though most prints are missing a bit from one of their musical numbers: a verse from a song that made fun of Eleanor Roosevelt was clipped after the film's initial en...
William Seaborn Effingham (Charles Coburn) returns to his home town Fredericksville, Georgia, in 1940 as a retired Army Colonel. He soon finds something to fill his days with, by starting a fight for the survival of the local newspaper. After many years of absence, he meets his cousin, Albert Marbury (William Eythe), who is a reporter at the newspaper, and hears that a rival newspaper is threatening the existence of the one Albert works for. The competing paper is getting more advertisers because of its support of the sitting mayor, Bill Silk (Thurston Hall). Among other things, the mayor favors renaming the town Confederate Monument Square after a highly questionable deceased politician named Pud Toolen. William isn’t happy at all with this development, and decides to support the editor, ...
America's entry into World War II affected almost everybody, including retired jewel thief Michael Lanyard, aka The Lone Wolf! After numerous light-hearted adventures, this thrilling entry dials down the comedy somewhat as Lanyard -- along with his faithful valet, Jamison - finds himself in bomb-ravaged London, having to track down Nazi agents as well clear himself for yet another crime he didn't commit. The incomparable Warren William and Eric Blore are as delightful as ever, while the dumb cop roles are taken over by Thurston Hall and Fred Kelsey. Also on hand are Hillary Brooke, Forrest Tucker, Billy Bevan and a young Lloyd Bridges, all under the sturdy direction of the renowned Edward Dmytryk (The Caine Mutiny). Newly remastered. © 1942, renewed 1970 Columbia Pictures Industries, In...
