Marc Jacobs campaigns are becoming a true family affair.
Less than a year after singer Courtney Love starred in an ad for the designer's Fall 2016 collection, her only daughter Frances Bean Cobain is modeling for the brand.
Frances, 24, is the first model for the new Spring 2017 collection to have her ad campaign onInstagram earlier today, adding a heartfelt message praising her and reminiscing about the first time he met her as a baby.
Having a model moment: Frances Bean Cobain stars in the first campaign ad for Marc Jacobs' Spring 2017 collection
Flashback: The designer recalled meeting her when she was just two and at a bar with her mom Courtney Love
Like mother, like daughter: Courtney appeared in her own Marc Jacobs ad last year
'I first met Frances Bean when she was two years old at a dinner with her mom (Courtney) and Anna Sui in 1994 at Bar Six in NYC,' he wrote. 'I have always wanted to work with Frances. Her beauty, uniqueness, and strength is something I have long admired and respected.
'Few things remain as constant as my continued inspiration from those whose honesty, integrity, courage, and curiosity lead them to explore and venture beyond preconceived boundaries,' he added.
The ad was shot by fashion photographer David Sims, who also shot Courtney's campaign image.
Comfortable: Frances said she doesn't want to be a model and only did this for Marc
Kurt: Marc's grunge show at Perry Ellis in 1992 was inspired by Frances' dad's style
Marc is clearly an admirer of the whole family. On the day of the Women's March this weekend, he shared an image on Instagram of Kurt Cobain in front of a sign that says 'Men don't protect women anymore'.
He also sang Courtney's praises when he cast her last year, writing on social media: 'With my abundance of respect for Courtney Love's musical contributions to grunge/rock culture and her status as this sort of, Grunge Goddess, it was her mesmerizing and extraordinarily moving portrayal of Althea in the film The People vs Larry Flynt that simultaneously broke my heart and won my love.
'While I hadn't yet met Courtney during my time as Creative Director at Perry Ellis, it was her then style that had a great influence on that now infamous "grunge collection" show in 1992.'
More images of Frances Bean seem to still be to come, as the famous offspring was spotted shooting her ads last year
He's a fan: Marc shared kind words about both Frances and her mother
Speaking of meeting her on that same night he met little Frances, he added: 'I remember being quite taken by her deep, thorough knowledge of and voracious appetite for fashion and music. There has always been a genuine allure about Courtney that I continue to admire.
'She was then and remains now, for me, the ultimate divine mess in a dress,' he wrote. 'Gone but no where near forgotten is the girl-woman Goddess of Grunge in her too small tattered dresses, the little girl barrette in her messy, scattered hair and beaten up brocade 1960’s evening shoes.'
Frances also spoke to Vogue about the experience, saying: 'I don't think I'll be modeling for anybody else for a very long time — this is 100 per cent outside my comfort zone. I wouldn't have done it with anyone other than Marc.
Family affair: Last year Anthony Kiedis and his son Everly Bear appeared in an ad
Famous offspring: Willow Smith also posed solo for the same campaign
'I thought this collection was great, and I was flattered that Marc thought of me for this. What I said to Marc when I was saying yes was that he's an underdog for the masses. He's still very rebellious within the fashion world, and he’s been like that his entire career,' she said.
'The shoot had a very organic feel—all the makeup was my own. We used the lipstick from right out of my purse, and no one did anything to my hair. They just put me in the clothes,' she went on. 'I could never do [modeling] professionally, but I'm glad I did it with Marc, because I trust him.'
Jacobs has cast other famous kids in his recent ads too. He also featured Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis with his son Everly Bear, as well as Willow Smith posing on her own.
