The hearing at Brighton Magistrates' Court proceeded in the absence of her and her lawyers on Wednesday.

Police, firefighters and ambulance crews were called and rush-hour traffic was held at a standstill after the A27 was closed after debris was strewn across the carriageway.

No one was reported injured in the collision which happened near where the celebrity lives in Grade I-listed 18th century Castle Goring in Arundel Road, Clapham.

A spokesman for Campbell at the time said: 'I'm glad to report that she, her son and dog are safe and unscathed.'

Lady C rose to fame on the reality television show I'm A Celebrity with her infamous cutting put-downs but walked out of the show on 'medical grounds' following clashes with former Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne and Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley.

Formerly known as Georgia Arianna, her current name and title comes from her ill-fated marriage with Lord Colin Campbell of 1974.

She married the 27-year-old the younger son of the 11th Duke of Argyll one week after him in New York in 1974.

They divorced less than a year later and she took out a press notice announcing her title should no longer be used but is still referred to by this name on the Castle Goring website and in court records.

She bought the once dilapidated castle in 2013 and it has been available for hire as a wedding venue since the summer.

The now restored fort was originally designed by famous architect John Biagio-Rebecca and last year she spent time filming a programme about her home called Lady C and the Castle.
