BESCHREIBUNG:
Zu Beginn des Films ist lediglich der Schauspieler Leonardo DiCaprio als Erzähler zu hören, der detailliert Hieronymus Boschs Triptychon Der Garten der Lüste beschreibt, das für den Film von großer Bedeutung ist.
Der Film wirft im weiteren Verlauf einen Blick darauf, welche Auswirkungen der Klimawandel auf die Umwelt hat und was die Gesellschaft tun kann, vom Aussterben bedrohte Tierarten zu erhalten, aber auch die Ökosysteme und die Gemeinschaften von Urvölkern auf dem ganzen Planeten. DiCaprio ist im Film in fast jeder Szene zu sehen. Er kommt darin mit einigen der weltweit führenden Wissenschaftlern und einflussreichen Führern und Politikern der Welt zusammen, um mit ihnen darüber zu sprechen, was gegen den Klimawandel getan werden könnte.
Zu Wort kommen der Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen Ban Ki-moon, der ehemalige US-Präsident Bill Clinton, sein derzeitiger Amtskollege Barack Obama und sein Außenminister John Kerry, aber auch Papst Franziskus. DiCaprio spricht hierbei auch über den Einfluss der Unternehmen auf die Politik, dabei mit einem Wirtschaftswissenschaftler der Harvard University. Er reist im Film um die Welt, um zu erfahren, wie andere Länder wie China und Indien mit dem Klimawandel umgehen, und um Informationen aus erster Hand über dessen Auswirkungen zu bekommen.

Clip 1: Water over flowing the Damn Store at the mouth of the Big Thompson and over topping the control gate.
Long clip that shows massive flooding and workers opening more flood gates.
Clip 2: Shot of flooding sign with flooding in the background with the sign saying you are entering Big Thompson Canyon.
Clip 3: Park flooding. Footage from above the park.
Clip 4: Driving along the river in the Big Thompson Canyon.
Clip 5: Driving along the road as part of the bank is eroding. Extreme flooding in the river next to the road and then a waterfall on the side of the road on the right side.
Clip 6: POV driving shot through high water while following fire crews they were documenting.
Clip 7: Crews setting up for a rescue. Long clip that shows extreme flooding and a car that almost went into the water with skid tracks that go to the edge.
Clip 8: Shows a home getting blasted by ragging flood water. Camera pans back to the fire crews setting up with a hook and ladder truck to rescue people on the other side of the river.
Clip 9: Water blasting the side of the roadway as it undercuts the road and you can see chunks of the road fall away into the water.
Clip pans to the across the river from on top of the fire truck as crews rig up to bring more people back to safety.
Clip 10 More raging flood water and now shows the road is gone due to the flooding.
Clip 11: Further down the road that shows more raging flood water under cutting the roadway.

Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane.
It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane.
I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park.

Flood
A flood is an overflow of water that submerges land which is usually dry. The European Union (EU) Floods Directive defines a flood as a covering by water of land not normally covered by water. In the sense of "flowing water", the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide.
Flooding may occur as an overflow of water from water bodies, such as a river, lake, or ocean, in which the water overtops or breaks levees, resulting in some of that water escaping its usual boundaries, or it may occur due to an accumulation of rainwater on saturated ground in an areal flood. While the size of a lake or other body of water will vary with seasonal changes in precipitation and snow melt, these changes in size are unlikely to be considered significant unless they flood property or drown domestic animals.
Floods can also occur in rivers when the flow rate exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders in the waterway. Floods often cause damage to homes and businesses if they are in the natural flood plains of rivers. While riverine flood damage can be eliminated by moving away from rivers and other bodies of water, people have traditionally lived and worked by rivers because the land is usually flat and fertile and because rivers provide easy travel and access to commerce and industry.

Before the Flood
Before the Flood is a live album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and the Band, released on June 20, 1974 on Asylum Records in the United States and Island Records in the United Kingdom. It is the seventeenth album by Dylan and the seventh by The Band, and documents their joint 1974 American tour. It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, reached number eight on the popular album chart in the United Kingdom, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Dylan and his new record label Asylum had planned professional recordings before the tour began, ten separate sessions in total: three in New York at Madison Square Garden on January 30 and 31; two in Seattle,Washington, at the Center Coliseum on February 9; two in Oakland, California, at the Alameda County Coliseum on February 11; and three in Los Angeles on February 13 and 14. To compile the album, recordings were taken from the final three shows at the Los Angeles Forum in Inglewood, California, with only "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" from New York.

Big Thompson River
The Big Thompson River is a tributary of the South Platte River, approximately 78 miles (123 km) long, in the U.S. state of Colorado.
Course of the river
The headwaters of the Big Thompson River begin in Forest Canyon within Rocky Mountain National Park in Larimer County, Colorado. The river flows east through Moraine Park to the town of Estes Park. There it is held in Lake Estes by the Olympus Dam before being released into the Big Thompson Canyon. The North Fork Big Thompson River also begins in Rocky Mountain National Park, on the northern slopes of the Mummy Range. This tributary flows east, through the town of Glen Haven, where it merges with the Big Thompson River in the town of Drake, in the Big Thompson Canyon.
From Lake Estes, the river descends 1/2 mile (800 m) in elevation through the mountains in the spectacular 25 mi (40 km) Big Thompson Canyon, emerging from the foothills west of Loveland. It flows eastward, south of Loveland across the plains into Weld County and joins the South Platte approximately 5 mi (8 km) south of Greeley. It receives the Little Thompson River approximately four mi (6 km) upstream from its mouth.

Thompson River
The Thompson River is the largest tributary of the Fraser River, flowing through the south-central portion of British Columbia, Canada. The Thompson River has two main branches called the South Thompson River and the North Thompson River. The Thompson was named by Fraser River explorer, Simon Fraser, in honour of his friend, Columbia Basin explorer David Thompson.
Geography
South Thompson River
The South Thompson originates at the outlet of Little Shuswap Lake at the town of Chase and flows approximately 55 kilometres (34 mi) southwest through a wide valley to Kamloops where it joins the North Thompson. Highway 1, the Trans-Canada Highway and the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway parallel the river. Little Shuswap Lake is fed by the Little River, which drains Shuswap Lake, which is fed by several rivers & creeks.
North Thompson River
The North Thompson originates at the toe of the Thompson Glacier in the Cariboo Mountains west of the community of Valemount and flows generally south towards Kamloops and the confluence with the South Thompson. For most of its length, the river is paralleled by Highway 5, and the Canadian National Railway (both of which cross the river a couple times). The North Thompson passes by several small communities, the most notable being Blue River, Clearwater & Barriere.

DiCaprio ist im Film in fast jeder Szene zu sehen. Er kommt darin mit einigen der weltweit führenden Wissenschaftlern und einflussreichen Führern und Politikern der Welt zusammen, um mit ihnen darüber zu sprechen, was gegen den Klimawandel getan werden könnte. Zu Wort kommen der Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen Ban Ki-moon, der ehemalige US-Präsident Bill Clinton, sein derzeitiger Amtskollege Barack Obama und sein Außenminister John Kerry, aber auch Papst Franziskus. DiCaprio spricht hierbei auch über den Einfluss der Unternehmen auf die Politik, dabei mit einem Wirtschaftswissenschaftler der Harvard University. Er reist im Film um die Welt, um zu erfahren, wie andere Länder wie China und Indien mit dem Klimawandel umgehen, und um Informationen aus erster Hand über dessen Auswirkungen zu bekommen. -

Land Lines and Cellular phone coverage is down and power is flashing in Estes Park, CO. Travel is not advised, it just is impossible as Highway's 7, 34, and 36 are gone because they are just washed out. Clip 1: Water over flowing the Damn Store at the mouth of the Big Thompson and over topping the control gate. Long clip that shows massive flooding and workers opening more flood gates. Clip 2: Shot of flooding sign with flooding in the background with the sign saying you are entering Big Thompson Canyon. Clip 3: Park flooding. Footage from above the park. Clip 4: Driving along the river in the Big Thompson Canyon. Clip 5: Driving along the road as part of the bank is eroding. Extreme flooding in the river next to the road and then a waterfall on the side of the road on the right side. Clip 6: POV driving shot through high water while following fire crews they were documenting. Clip 7: Crews setting up for a rescue. Long clip that shows extreme flooding and a car that almost went into the water with skid tracks that go to the edge. Clip 8: Shows a home getting blasted by ragging flood water. Camera pans back to the fire crews setting up with a hook and ladder truck to rescue people on the other side of the river. Clip 9: Water blasting the side of the roadway as it undercuts the road and you can see chunks of the road fall away into the water. Clip pans to the across the river from on top of the fire truck as crews rig up to bring more people back to safety. Clip 10 More raging flood water and now shows the road is gone due to the flooding. Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane. It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane. Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane. It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane. Land Lines and Cellular phone coverage is down and power is flashing in Estes Park, CO.
Travel is not advised, it just is impossible as Highway's 7, 34, and 36 are gone because they are just washed out.

Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane.
It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane.
I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park.
