A man tried to abduct a child in Kings Park on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said the child was one of several children, which were with a family group at Synergy Park on May Drive.
The adults in the group saw a man picking up one of their children, which was playing on a crocodile sculpture. He then placed the child on his hip and started to walk away.
The man was then challenged by one of the adults after which he promptly put the child down and walked off towards an access road were several cars were parked.
The man has been described as being aged in his 30s, about 172 centimetres tall, of slim build and with brown hair.
He was wearing a royal blue coloured loose fitting polo t-shirt, knee-length loose fitting shorts and a white baseball cap.
Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was at the park between 1pm and 5pm and taking photos or videos as they may have captured an image of the man.
They would also like to speak to the driver of a black Ford Territory which was parked on the side of the road adjacent to the toilet block as he may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
