Gurun
Gurun is a small town and a major industrial park situated within the parliamentary district of Jerai in Kedah, Malaysia. "Gurun" in English is desert and the name probably came from the fact that Gurun located on the foot of Gunung Jerai, which barricade the rain cloud from the ocean to the area, hence it receives lesser rain compared to other places.There are several major factories in Gurun industrial zone, namely Perwaja Steel, Modenas and Naza. As for shopping complexes, there is Pasaraya Aneka Gurun and Jerai Plaza ( Jerai Shopping Mall).Gurun can be reached via the federal highway within Kedah, the North-South Expressway and it even has its own train station. The main junction in the town center connects the western part of Kedah to the town of Jeniang and the district of Sik.
