'Put through hell': Flip Or Flop's Tarek El Moussa allegedly 'joked about raping' estranged wife Christina on set

Their split came as a shock, but a new report suggests that distressing incidents had plagued this reality couple's relationship and show long before they split.

In yet another explosive allegation about the downfall of Flip Or Flop stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa's marriage, it has been claimed that Tarek 'put [his wife] through hell' for some time.

Life & Style Magazine has reported that the 35-year-old made terrifying and tasteless comments to his partner within air shot of their show's crew.

A source told the magazine that he threatened to rape the mother of his two children.

Tarek allegedly meant it as a joke, but it it 'left those who heard it appalled', the magazine reported Wednesday.

The source said, '[Tarek told Christina], ''Shut up woman, or I'll rape you.'' He actually joked about raping Christina on more than one occasion. Tarek thinks it's funny.' 

It is not clear when last year the alleged incident occurred, with the couple's marriage under strain for some time.

The HGTV insider also told the magazine: 'Christina feels like she has been put through hell with Tarek. After trying to keep their marriage together for years, she couldn't put up with it anymore.'

Police had been called to their home in May after Tarek armed himself with a gun following an argument which they have since branded an 'unfortunate misunderstanding'.

The couple entered counselling in a bid to save their seven year union but decided later to separate. Filming on their show continued, however, and it was not until late last year that they announced they were ending their marriage.

Tarek filed for divorce earlier this month. The issue of legal custody of their two children, Brayden ,1, and Taylor, 6, has not yet revealed publicly.

The 33-year-old mother of two allegedly started sitting in her car during breaks to avoid her estranged husband.

'One time he went up and started pounding on the window, Christina locked the doors,' the source told Life & Style. 

Us Weekly also reports tensions are high on set, made worse by the realtor turned flipper's new relationships.

An insider told Us Weekly that Tarek is not shy in talking about moving on.

'He does things to piss [Christina] off, like bragging loudly about sleeping with girls,' the source said.

'She thinks Tarek is an absolute pig.'

The magazine reports that not only has Tarek had a 'fling' with his children's nanny Alyssa Logan, 23, but has since also become romantically involved with her friend.

The magazine claims the star 'hired her as a nanny to get close to her' and by September, he had released her from the payroll so they could date. Christina has her own nanny for their children and does not known Alyssa.

Christina's friend told the magazine that Tarek lavished gifts upon the young woman, buying her a Jeep and whisking her away on trips to Las Vegas and New York aboard a private jet, saying 'Tarek blows money in order to impress people'.

The magazine claims by December, Tarek had moved on to the women's friend, a twentysomething aspiring model.

Tarek declined to comment to the magazine.  

Love life aside, Life & Style's source claims Tarek's mood dictated how the show was filmed and even saw him lash out at the director.

'Tarek cannot film for more than four or five hours because he is always complaining about being hot. He's fine if the weather is between 70 and 72 degrees, but if it's hotter than that, he gets pissed and refuses to continue filming.'

'Tarek couldn't handle the pressure,' the insider claimed.

It is these lows that contributed to the end of the marriage the magazine's source said.

'[The low points] were a huge factor in their marriage falling apart. Christina hit a breaking and couldn't stand it anymore. She fell out of love.'

The DailyMail.com has reached out to HGTV in regards to the alleged on set incidents but has yet to receive a response.

DailyMail.com has also reached out to a representative for Tarek in regards to Us Weekly's claims about his private life.

The star's statement was the same as what he posted on Instagram last week:'No matter the lies, innuendo, salacious gossip and ''fake news'' that is thrown at me from irresponsible media outlets, I will keep my focus on what matters most which is co-parenting our children and working hard on our business.'

Christina meanwhile seems to be flourishing and enjoying the single life, posting pictures of herself enjoying trips away to Park City, Utah, as well as her doing speaking tours.

According to the Life & Style insider, the 33-year-old is in her element. 

'Christina is handling the divorce well. She knows this decision is for the best and is looking forward to more positive beginnings.

Christina has also reportedly found love again with contractor Gary Anderson.

While it has been claimed text messages between the pair sparked the May 2016 gun incident, both Tarek and Christina have denied infidelity played a part on their marriage's collapse.

Their show has also flourished with its ratings continuing to soar post news of their split.
