MTV revives My Super Sweet 16 with casting call for new generation of outlandish coming-of-age parties
MTV plans to reboot My Super Sweet 16 with a new generation of outlandish coming-of-age parties.
The original show that ran from January 2005 to June 2008 chronicled teens celebrating a Sweet 16 or Quinceanara as well as other birthdays with lavish parties.
A casting notice recenlty sent by Doron Ofir Casting has been posted for girls and boys who are planning on throwing an over-the-top affair, according to an article on Tuesday by Entertainment Weekly.

The invite for audition sought participants at least age 13 for 'an extraordinary television event featuring the most important day of your life marked by the greatest of celebrations — Sweet Sixteen, Quinceanera, Debutante Ball, Debut, or any other coming-of-age milestone event.'
My Super Sweet 16 ran for 61 episodes and typically featured an impassioned teen planning a milestone event with a big budget from their parents.
The parties featured plenty of dramas with tantrums, uninvited guests, musical performances from stars and expensive cars as gifts.
The original run of My Super Sweet 16 also featured celebrity bashes including parties thrown by Bow Wow, Soulja Boy and Chris Brown.

The show's eighth season extended to February 2015 when Reginae Carter, who is the daughter of rapper Lil Wayne, shared her 16th birthday party.
Her Atlanta bash featured a performance by rap queen Nicki Minaj and Regina was gifted with a Ferrari and a BMW.
My Super Sweet 16 spawned the 2008 spin-off Exiled in which some of the more spoiled teens were sent to remote countries by their parents as a test of survival.

It also inspired the 2009 MTV teen slasher movie My Super Psycho Sweet 16 and its two sequels.
My Super Sweet 16 also provided the on-screen acting debut of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence who didn't actually appear on the show.
Jennifer, 26, starred in TV commercials in 2005 promoting the series before she became famous.
