An exceptional collection of song with lyrics by the poet Angeliki Elefteriou. Angeliki Eleftheriou, actress and poet, sister of poet and lyricist Manos Eleftheriou, was born in Ermoupolis, Syros, on January 25, 1940. She lived through difficult years of childhood due to the war. He attended Karolos Kuhn’s Theatre of Art School, where she graduated three years later. It was politicized through the poems of Yiannis Ritsos. Shortly before the Greek Junta, around twenty – five years old, she left abroad, initially to London, and then to Paris. She returned to Greece after the fall of the dictatorship. She passed away at the age of 75 on May 23, 2015. Her lyrics were composed by Mikis Theodorakis, Giannis Markopoulos, Elias Andriopoulos and others. The voice which speaks in the poems is the voice of a woman, born and grown in difficult and harsh times, who has experienced the pain literally and metaphorically, has understood early the struggle of survival, the difficult fate of women who assume family responsibility, and do not have the luxury of self-definition based on their creative skills and concerns. From Syros to Athens, with the love of art virus working underground and drastically, looking for ways to reveal, parents' resistances are bent, ending school, studying at the Kuhn Theatre of Art School with a scholarship, but the exceprional values do not always have the luck they deserve, this lesson Angeliki learned it well from early on. A woman who speaks, like every other woman, a woman next door and searches from the white paper for a response, a good owl, an interlocutor of her heart. From the white paper that fills words, the acceptance of oneself and others, the magical power to make decisions, to break the shackles that keep it captive into royal roles is sought. Poetry does not mean simply chasing words and quoting them in strange combinations that temporarily satisfy the surface of the soul but leave a gap in its depth. Angeliki Eleftheriou seems to understand this and to avoid it. Poetry means forcing the words to coexist with their weight or even their lightness in experiences that convince them for their sincerity and at the same time they raise a slight sigh, on the lips. Poetry is the simplest phrase that manages to turn personal experience into a universal moment, able to overcome the boundaries of the poet's room and mind, and penetrate into now and on. Her aesthetic criteria are eclectic and strict as the bar has already been put high, since in the close family environment there are two male writers, two powerful personalities, Manos Eleftheriou with his short stories and lyrics, the promising partnerships with Theodorakis, Moutsis, Markopoulos and her then husband, George Skourtis, who from the very beginning, with the play «The Nannys», created a great sensation in the theater.
