But experience has shown to us that it's much better if peace is established in Israel, and Israel has a right to exist, and I think that we think that if all the resolutions of the Security Council and of the General Assembly are implemented then we will come to a stage that the co-existence of these two nations is possible." 9. Pan from journalists to Farhadi STORYLINE: The Northern Alliance government, led by Burhanuddin Rabbani, is still recognised by most nations and international entities as the legitimate rulers of Afghanistan. This is despite the fact that the Taliban regime controls between 75 and 95 per cent of the actual territory. The Northern Alliance's ambassador to the UN, Ravan Farhadi, spoke in New York on Thursday about his government's vision for a well-represented Afghanistan of the future. He stressed that the Pashtun majority, the Taliban's base of support, will be welcomed into a new government in Afghanistan after the fighting stops. He also said that his government recognises the state of Israel's right to exist. The alliance is coordinating its military efforts with US and British strikes on the Taliban and al-Qaida facilities. The alliance would like to further coordinate with the US on the political front, as they aim to set up a legitimate government that will be recognised by the people of Afghanistan and the international community.
