Alessandro Francesco Tommaso Manzoni (Italian: [alesˈsandro manˈdzoːni]; 7 March 1785 – 22 May 1873) was an Italian poet and novelist. He is famous for the novel The Betrothed (orig. Italian: I Promessi Sposi) (1840), generally ranked among the masterpieces of world literature. The novel is also a symbol of the Italian Risorgimento, both for its patriotic message and because it was a fundamental milestone in the development of the modern, unified Italian language.
Manzoni was born in Milan, Italy, on 7 March 1785. Pietro, his father, aged about fifty, belonged to an old family of Lecco, originally feudal lords of Barzio, in the Valsassina. The poet's maternal grandfather, Cesare Beccaria, was a well-known author and philosopher, and his mother Giulia had literary talent as well. The young Alessandro spent his first two years of life in cascina Costa in Galbiate and he was wet-nursed by Caterina Panzeri, as attested by a memorial plate affixed in the place. In 1792 his parents broke their marriage and his mother began a relationship with the highbrow Carlo Imbonati, moving to England and later to Paris. For this reason, their son was brought up in several religious institutes.
Manzoni is an Italian surname, and may refer to:
Umberto Eco OMRI (Italian: [umˈbɛrto ˈɛːko]; born 5 January 1932) is an Italian semiotician, essayist, philosopher, literary critic, and novelist. He has since written other novels, including Il pendolo di Foucault (Foucault's Pendulum) and L'isola del giorno prima (The Island of the Day Before). His novel Il cimitero di Praga (The Prague Cemetery), released in 2010, was a best-seller.

And you see, I kind of shivered to conformity, did you see
The way I cowered to authority? You see
And my life, it's a series of compromises, anyway it's a shame
And I'm conditioned to accept it all, you see
Than I had before, than I've presently got
Than I'll ever use up, than I really need
Than I had before, than I've presently got
Than I'll ever use up, than I really need
Than I had before, than I could possibly spend
Than I'll ever use up, than I really need
Than I had before, than I could possibly spend
Than I'll ever use up, than I really need
It's more than I can spare
My religion is caged
Safe from progress, purgatory I know
How does this affect me? Emotionally affect me
Will they let me go?
Will they let me go?
Will they let me go?
Equilibrium imbalanced again
I feel no pain
I feel no
I feel no pain
Jabberwocky haunts me, in my memory it's caged
I feel no pain
I feel no
I feel no pain
Jabberwocky haunts me, in my memory it's caged
I feel no pain
I feel no pain
I feel no pain
But if you punched me in the stomach, then I'd feel it again
Feel no pain
I feel no
I feel no pain
But if you punched me in the stomach, then I'd feel it again
Life is a compromise anyway
Life is a compromise anyway
Life it's a compromise anyway
Life it's a compromise anyway
It's a sham and I'll accept it all
Life is a compromise anyway
Life is a compromise anyway
Life it's a compromise anyway
Life it's a compromise anyway
And it's a sham and I'll accept it all
