TV comic Rory McGrath admits harassing woman he threatened with revenge porn after the end of their five-year affair
The court heard McGrath repeatedly approached the woman after their affair ended and she has had to see a psychiatrist and go on medication because of the stress she suffered. He also tried to get into the woman's workplace and phoned her husband at work calling him a 'laughing stock'. The 60-year-old comic had previously denied a charge of stalking but entered a guilty plea to the lesser offence of harassment on what was due to be the first day of his trial today. The judge handed him a ten-week sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Betrayal of a true English hero: A tiny man, he was a giant of our 1966 World Cup winning team. But the way Nobby Stiles has been treated by the sport he loves speaks volumes about the cesspit that is modern football
Former England midfielder Nobby Stiles (left), a mainstay in the 1966 World Cup winning side (right), is now suffering from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia that has left him only able to recognise close family. The ex-Manchester United player is often regarded as someone who 'exemplified all that was admirable about English football' but his family are demanding more from the FA to investigate the increasingly apparent correlation between football and degenerative brain disease. Stiles has even had to auction his medals (inset) off to ensure his family are provided for after his death, earning £400,000 from the sale.

Two students almost died and had to spend days in intensive care on dialysis when they drank the caffeine equivalent of 300 cups of coffee at once during a sports experiment
Sports science students Alex Rossetto, not pictured, and Luke Parkin, left, consumed double the lethal limit after volunteering to take part in the test at Northumbria University which aimed to measure the effect of caffeine on exercise. After a calculation error, the second year students were given 100 times the correct dosage, causing violent side-effects and them being admitted to hospital with 'life- threatening reactions' in March 2015. Prosecutor Adam Farrer told Newcastle Crown Court they should have been given 0.3g of caffeine, but were in fact given 30g. He said there is 0.1g in the average cup of coffee.
Sales assistant is hit with '£2,000 worth of parking fines' by a private firm despite having a permit to leave his car outside his OWN HOME
Dan Horwood (above), 25, alleges he has been pursued by 'devious' parking inspectors since moving to his new home in Dartford, Kent, six months ago - after builders started taking the spaces that his permit applies to. He claims that the parking workers are trying to penalise drivers 24 hours a day and he has been given 20 tickets at £100 each - with one of them issued at about 2am. Mr Horwood said that each of the 100 residents in the block have visitor parking permits for 15 spaces on the private Phoenix Quarter site. And the parking scramble has got even worse with the housing association Hyde Housing recently having builders in, who have been using some of the spaces. This has forced the residents to park wherever they can on the estate - and they say they are impeding no one, even though they are not in a designated space. Also pictured (inset): A worker is spotted fining a driver on the private site.
Postman, 46, who was caught on video by 'Guardians of the North' paedophile hunters trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex is spared jail
Simon Smith (pictured inset outside court) travelled 170 miles from his home in Kilmarnock in Scotland to Gateshead in England to meet the teenager he thought he had been communicating with on Facebook messenger. But the fake profile had been set up by Guardians of the North who confronted the 46-year-old at the Metro Centre (pictured left). Jonathan Devlin, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court how Smith contacted the fictitious profile before organising to meet the '14-year-old girl' on November 26 and take her Christmas shopping. He said the conversations began by him posting a false image on his profile. He added that Smith asked the person he communicated with her age and her response was '14' (pictured right).
Transgender woman, 23, and her boyfriend who murdered their flatmate, 20, for a 'sadistic' thrill after practising the torture on a Barbie doll are both jailed for life
Bethany Hill (left, inset) was found drenched in blood with stab wounds to her neck from a long knife (bottom right) and her hands bound with tape in the bathroom of a flat in Stratford-upon-Avon on February 3 last year. Her two flatmates Kayleigh Louise Woods, 23, and Jack Williams (both pictured, top right), 21, were today convicted of her murder at Warwick Crown Court, and were each jailed for a minimum of 26 years. Woods, who was born and raised as a boy called Kyle Lockwood, had been in a relationship with Williams at the time of the murder. A three-week trial was told that a knife (bottom right) was repeatedly used to cut Miss Hill's neck after her wrists were bound with duct tape. After the sentencing, police released an image of the haunting Barbie doll with its hands and mouth taped up and its hair even coloured in to resemble Miss Hill's (left), which Woods had given to her grandmother for storage weeks before the murder.
An extremely new witness for Sgt Blackman: A distinguished liberal voice backs the Mail's campaign to win justice for a fellow Royal Marine - with his own haunting account of killing two horribly wounded insurgents
Former Royal Marine Commando Neal Ascherson has joined the campaign to secure the release of Sgt Alexander Blackman who is serving eight years for killing a wounded Taliban terrorist. Ascherson, inset, was fighting in Malaya during the 1950s, right, when he shot dead two badly wounded insurgent fighters who would not survive their injuries. Ascherson said Sgt Blackman, right, should be released as 'the pressures that our soldiers are under in sustained combat can only be understood by those who have also served'.
Muslim taxi driver, 43, who refused to pick up a blind man because driving his guide dog was against his religion is fined for discrimination
Charles Bloch, 22, and his girlfriend Jessica Graham 21, booked a ride with Leicester cab firm ADT Taxis in July, last year. The pair, who were both born with a visual impairment and are registered blind, were accompanied by Mr Bloch's guide dog Carlo. But when their driver, Abandi Jamal Kassim (pictured centre), arrived to pick them up, he would not allow the dog into his cab. The driver told Mr Bloch 'For me, it is about my religion.' Mr Bloch told Kassim that refusing to allow the guide dog into the taxi was 'against the law'. Footage of the incident, which ended with Mr Kassim driving off and leaving the pair stranded at the roadside (pictured right), was filmed by Miss Graham on her mobile phone. Mr Kassim, 43, appeared before the city's magistrates today and admitted a breach of the Equality Act 2010. He was fined £340 and ordered to pay £50 compensation and the council's £200 court costs.

THE WORLD AT A GLANCE
Armed and dangerous! Did Donald Trump's bodyguard wear FAKE hands during inauguration so he could hold a gun under his coat?
Social media is awash with claims one of the Secret Service agents protecting President Donald Trump had prosthetic arms, with his real hands on the trigger of a gun under his coat. The theory stems from analysis of video footage as President Trump, his wife Melania and son Barron went on an informal walkabout down Pennsylvania Avenue after Friday's inauguration. The bald agent's eyes move constantly, scanning the crowds for signs of a potential assassin, but his arms (circled) never move once. This sparked speculation that his real hand was resting on the trigger of his gun under his coat.
