Michigan EPA says Flint’s water is fine — but what do residents have to say?

  • Michigan environmental officials announced on Tuesday that lead levels in Flint’s water no longer exceed the federal limits. 
  • The Associated Press reported that the EPA’s findings were “good news for a city whose 100,000 residents have been grappling with the man-made water crisis." 
  • Republicans in Congress ended their investigation into the Flint water crisis in December, stating that their efforts hadn’t uncovered anything they didn’t already know.
  • The city has allocated $27 million dollars to replacing "at least 7% of its lead service lines” by June 30 of this year, suggesting there’s an end in sight for Flint residents without clean water. Read more

Michigan Governor will drink Flint water for 30 days

In an attempt to prove that the water in Flint, Michigan, is safe to drink. Gov. Rick Snyder has decided to take the “Flint Water Challenge” and drink tap water from the city for at least a month. But not everyone is pleased with the governor’s attempt to alleviate concerns, including Mark Ruffalo who called out Snyder directly on Twitter.

7-year-old helps raise thousands for kids in Flint

After his parents explained the Flint water crisis to him, 7-year-old Isiah Britt of Gainesville, Virginia felt compelled to help. The second grader and his family started a GoFundMe campaign to help Flint elementary school children affected by the crisis. They’ve raised over $8,000 so far, but they’re not sending water bottles.
