At this point in the match, Australia were 0/214. It will be a major challenge for Pakistan to win this game, but it's possible for them to go at ten an over for the final 17 overs.

James Faulkner having a bowl now for Australia. Looks like we'll go the entire series without Glenn Maxwell rolling his arm over.

3000 ODI runs for Umar Akmal

With 18 overs remaining, the required run rate has crept above 10 runs an over for the first time. Pakistan now require 183.

Akmal almost ran himself out for a golden duck. He defends a Cummins short ball and immediately takes off for a single, Babar sends him back and if Cummins had have hit the stumps, Akmal would have been sent back to the pavilion. Cummins didn't hit and Akmal survived.

Malik retires hurt

Shoaib Malik has now left the field. He is clutching his left wrist and was in a fair bit of pain as he left the field. That is exactly what Pakistan didn't need in this massive run chase. Umar Akmal will enter the field as the new batsman.

With Malik in a fair bit of pain, we have taken an early drinks break as the physio treats his forearm.

Big shout by the Aussies but the umpire shakes his head and Smith chose not to review. It was a short ball that Shoaib Malik did not play well. He tried to get his bat up to fend the ball away, but instead it hit his forearm and looped in the air to Smith. Good decision by Smith not to review.

30 Overs complete and Pakistan are 3/175. The old mantra is that you can double your score in the final 20 overs, but Pakistan will have to do more than that if they are to win this game. Working in their favour though is that Australia's strike bowler Mitchell Starc has just 3 overs left.

Hazlewood is back into the attack and Babar is taking the game straight to him, hitting his third ball for six. Babar is now 69 off 84 and must act as the linchpin of this innings.

Pakistan's run rate is very similar to Australia's at this point in their innings, however they have lost three more wickets and that will likely come back to hurt them.

Smith had just 0.6 of a second to react to that edge, get his hands up in the air and take the catch above his left shoulder.

Starc has a third

Smith's decision to bring Starc back into the attack has really paid dividends. Starc has Hafeez swing at a wide one and he's edged it straight to the Australian captain at first slip, who takes a sharp catch. The ball travelled pretty quickly to Smith and he did well to take that. Pakistan in big trouble now.

Runs

50 for Babar

Babar has picked up his half century with a single. He has to hang around if Pakistan are to have any chance of winning this game.

MIchael Clarke suggesting that instead of Hafeez trudging out to bat, Pakistan should have sent in a tailender to deliver a quick fire 30 or 40. Interesting suggestion, not sure it's a route I'd be taking as a captain.

Sharjeel falls

Starc has picked up the danger man. A short ball that beat the batsman for pace, Sharjeel attempted to hook it, he was unable to get on top of it and top edged the ball. After hanging in the air for a solid amount fo time, Wade eventually settled underneath it and took a comfortable catch.

Mohammad Hafeez the new man in for Pakistan. They need a captain's knock here.

The required run rate is up to 8.88, but Pakistan seem content tapping the ball around, picking up five or six an over. Steve Smith is not content with this situation and he has brought in Mitchell Starc to shake things up a bit.

Steve Smith has returned to the field, but David Warner has now left the field. That is unsurprising given how bad he was cramping in the back end of his innings.

For the second time today we have a deflection off the bowler onto the stumps and for the second time today Babar has managed to ground his bat in time.

20 overs complete and Pakistan are 1/113. They are content to pick up one boundary an over and knock it around for a few singles. With 180 balls to go, Pakistan require 257 runs.

In other news, Steve Smith has left the field to have that left food attended to.
