New Zealand dollar lifts as inflation returns to RBNZ target range

The New Zealand dollar rose to a 10-week high of US73.04¢ after data showed inflation was back in the central bank's target range for the first time in two years.

The currency had been trading around 72.60 before the release.

The data, which showed annual inflation was 1.3 per cent, was slightly higher than economists' estimates of 1.2 per cent.
