Bob Brady and The Con-Chords were a white group in the 1960s from Baltimore, who everyone thought were black, mainly because Bob sounded so much like Smokey Robinson. It took a lot of trouble but I tracked him down for The Strange World Of Northern Soul, and we redid two of his hits, this one later becoming famous on the KFC commercials in the UK. "Everybody's Going To A Love-In" by Bob Brady and the Con Chords, was simultaneously a storming soul dancer and a giddy slice of exploito-pop, the tune was, if not the band's biggest record, the one for which they are best remembered. One of the better "blue eyed soul" bands of the era, they had an ace in the hole with lead singer Brady who often sounded more like Smokey Robinson than the man himself. The band was formed in East Baltimore in 1965, and released all their records on their very own label, Chariot Records, until Bob was later signed as a solo act to A&M;. The members at the time of the first two records were: Bob Brady - lead vocals - George Layfield - lead vocals, backup vocals - Jim Samuel - piano, organ, backup vocals - Dennis Zwirlein - guitar, backup vocals - Tony Constantino - trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax, vibes, backup vocals (although his primary instrument was drums) - Dave Wladkowski - alto sax, baritone sax - Larry Sprigg - trombone, vibes - John Drexler - drums - Vince Sansone - bass guitar - John Drexler was replaced on drums with Marty Fisher. Vince Sansone was replaced with Tommy Thompson on bass. Tommy was also a talented sax player. In 1964 the band was called simply the Con-Chords and was playing local teen centers. At that time George Layfield was the lead singer. (After Brady joined, George sang lead on about 1/4 of the songs, especially Steve Wonder and James Brown type stuff.) In addition to the original members there were two additional backup singers Wayne Mattes and Bob Gehrig. Lou Patti played trumpet. Some time in late '64 or early '65 Bob Brady joined the group, and Mattes and Gehrig departed. Shortly thereafter Lou Patti was replaced on trumpet with Tony Constantino, who played trumpet as a third instrument, but was probably the best drummer in town and a tremendous sax player and more than adequate on trumpet. Tony had played drums and other instruments professionally all over the east coast and Italy since he was a young boy. "More More More Of Your Love", a Smokey Robinson cover, became massive on the Northern Soul scene because it was faster and more generic than the original. This song, "Everybody's Going To A Love-In", was their only UK release.

A five disc set of 200 performances called "Northern Soul's Greatest 200 Floorfillers". This uses some songs from "The Strange World Of Northern Soul" which are completely re-edited, so they look fresh and sparkling new. All the previous video effects done in the 1990s are gone forever, consigned to history. Plus loads and loads of never before seen videos, many of which have sat in the can untouched for many many years. Plus some newly recorded tributes to the classics. If you ever went to Blackpool Mecca or Wigan Casino, this is the must-have purchase of the year. In putting together this box set, we have nearly all the biggest all time blockbusters, "Out On The Floor", "Night Owl', "I'm On My Way", "Time Will Pass You By", "Blowing My Mind To Pieces", "Do I Love You", all sung by the original singers. The project started in 1997, was released on VHS tape and premiered to 1300 people at the King George's Hall in Blackburn in July 1999, then took four more years to refine and re-edit into its DVD release in 2003. A life's labour of love. So, in 1998, after much searching, and the most massive amount of detective work imaginable, we tracked Bob down to make this one and only one-time performance especially for us, for our ground breaking Encyclopedia Britannica of Northern Soul, and I am so glad that we did.

Bob Brady
Robert A. "Bob" Brady (born April 7, 1945) is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district, serving since 1998, and the ranking Democrat on the United States House Committee on House Administration since 2007. He has been the Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party since 1986, and is one of the few members of Congress who is also a county chairman (Philadelphia Democratic City Committee).
Early life, education, and pre-congressional career
Brady was born in Philadelphia, the son of Enez (née Caterini) and Robert G. Brady, a police officer. His father was of Irish descent, and his maternal grandparents were immigrants from Italy. He graduated from St. Thomas More High School, but did not attend college, instead going to work as a carpenter. He became a part of the leadership of the union, and remains a member of several unions.
He was elected a precinct committeeman for the Democratic Party in 1968. When ward leader and then-City Council President George X. Schwartz was convicted and imprisoned in the Abscam scandal, Brady was elected to succeed him as Democratic Leader of the 34th Ward, a position that he still holds today. Since June 1986, Brady has been the Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party. He served as a staff aide in the Philadelphia City Council and a staff aide in the Pennsylvania State Senate. Brady has been an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission from 1991 until his election as a Congressman.

Northern soul
Northern soul is a music and dance movement that emerged independently in Northern England, the English Midlands, Scotland and Wales in the late 1960s from the British mod scene. Northern soul mainly consists of a particular style of black American soul music based on the heavy beat and fast tempo of the mid-1960s Tamla Motown sound.
The northern soul movement, however, generally eschews Motown or Motown-influenced music that has had significant mainstream commercial success. The recordings most prized by enthusiasts of the genre are usually by lesser-known artists, released only in limited numbers, often by small regional American labels such as Ric-Tic and Golden World Records (Detroit), Mirwood (Los Angeles) and Shout and Okeh (New York/Chicago).
Northern soul is associated with particular dance styles and fashions that grew out of the underground rhythm & soul scene of the late 1960s at venues such as the Twisted Wheel in Manchester. This scene and the associated dances and fashions quickly spread to other UK dancehalls and nightclubs like the Chateau Impney (Droitwich), Catacombs (Wolverhampton), the Highland Rooms at Blackpool Mecca, Golden Torch (Stoke-on-Trent) and Wigan Casino.

The More More is released under the Artwerk label, a joint venture of EA and Nettwerk Music Group. It includes remixes by Tommie Sunshine, Tocadisco, D.I.M., Matthew Dekay and Kraak & Smaak. For the umteenth time we ask "How could this not have been a hit"? Brady, who sounds a whole lot like Smokey Robinson, picked this track from the Miracles' "Away We A-Go-Go" LP (1966). Since the original single (Chariot) flopped, A&M; issued it again five years later (1972). Again, nothing good happened. Note the A&M; label does not credit the Con Chords.

We've done a deal with Wienerworld, a major music DVD company, and the same company who originally released our classic documentary "The Strange World Of Northern Soul", and we have now released the definitive DVD box set. A five disc set of 200 performances called "Northern Soul's Greatest 200 Floorfillers". This uses some songs from "The Strange World Of Northern Soul" which are completely re-edited, so they look fresh and sparkling new. All the previous video effects done in the 1990s are gone forever, consigned to history. Bob Brady and The Con-Chords were a white group in the 1960s from Baltimore, who everyone thought were black, mainly because Bob sounded so much like Smokey Robinson. It took a lot of trouble but I tracked him down for The Strange World Of Northern Soul, and we redid two of his hits, this one later becoming famous on the KFC commercials in the UK. "Everybody's Going To A Love-In" by Bob Brady and the Con Chords, was simultaneously a storming soul dancer and a giddy slice of exploito-pop, the tune was, if not the band's biggest record, the one for which they are best remembered. One of the better "blue eyed soul" bands of the era, they had an ace in the hole with lead singer Brady who often sounded more like Smokey Robinson than the man himself. The band was formed in East Baltimore in 1965, and released all their records on their very own label, Chariot Records, until Bob was later signed as a solo act to A&M;. The members at the time of the first two records were: Bob Brady - lead vocals - George Layfield - lead vocals, backup vocals - Jim Samuel - piano, organ, backup vocals - Dennis Zwirlein - guitar, backup vocals - Tony Constantino - trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax, vibes, backup vocals (although his primary instrument was drums) - Dave Wladkowski - alto sax, baritone sax - Larry Sprigg - trombone, vibes - John Drexler - drums - Vince Sansone - bass guitar - John Drexler was replaced on drums with Marty Fisher. Vince Sansone was replaced with Tommy Thompson on bass. Tommy was also a talented sax player. In 1964 the band was called simply the Con-Chords and was playing local teen centers. At that time George Layfield was the lead singer. (After Brady joined, George sang lead on about 1/4 of the songs, especially Steve Wonder and James Brown type stuff.) In addition to the original members there were two additional backup singers Wayne Mattes and Bob Gehrig. Lou Patti played trumpet. Some time in late '64 or early '65 Bob Brady joined the group, and Mattes and Gehrig departed. Shortly thereafter Lou Patti was replaced on trumpet with Tony Constantino, who played trumpet as a third instrument, but was probably the best drummer in town and a tremendous sax player and more than adequate on trumpet. Tony had played drums and other instruments professionally all over the east coast and Italy since he was a young boy. "More More More Of Your Love", a Smokey Robinson cover, became massive on the Northern Soul scene because it was faster and more generic than the original. Tom Brady held the Vince Lombardi trophy high above his head and told New England Patriots fans he was 'taking this sucker home' after the team defeated the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night 34 - 28 in the first Super Bowl to ever go into overtime.
The quarterback broke down in tears after the game, in which the team managed to comeback from a 25 point deficit in the third quarter of the game to even the score and keep their hopes of yet another victory alive.
The Patriots then clinched the victory minutes into overtime when James White plunged past the goal line on the team's opening drive in extra time.
It was a historic win for Brady and head coach Bell Belichick, who with the victory now each have five Super Bowl rings, the most of any player or coach in the history of the NFL.
Brady made history by also winning the Super Bowl MVP honor for the fourth time in history, more than any other player.
And he did it all in front of his mother Galynn Brady, who is suffering through an undisclosed illness and wore a bandanna over her head as she greeted her son after his victory.
The Super Bowl was the first game she's attended all season, with Patriots owner Bob Kraft telling a NESN reporter after the game that Galynn had been undergoing radiation and chemotherapy throughout the entire football season.
'I spoke to him in the locker room before the game, and I said, "We gotta win this one for your mom," because I know how important his mom is,' said Kraft.
'She’s been going through chemotherapy and radiation, and this is the first game she’s been to. She came here, and I just saw her, and it was really cool.'
Brady had said earlier in the week that he wanted to win the game on Sunday night for his mother.
In an interview with CBS Boston after the game Galynn said she was overwhelmed after watching her son play.
She also said that she spent the came praying for a Patriots win.
'It's the best ever. It's the best ever. And he's ... I'm speechless. I'm speechless,' said Tom Sr. in the same interview.
'It was so spectacular and so fun and so nerve-racking and so awesome.'

Bob Brady and The Con-Chords were a white group in the 1960s from Baltimore, who everyone thought were black, mainly because Bob sounded so much like Smokey Robinson. It took a lot of trouble but I tracked him down for The Strange World Of Northern Soul, and we redid two of his hits, this one later becoming famous on the KFC commercials in the UK. "Everybody's Going To A Love-In" by Bob Brady and the Con Chords, was simultaneously a storming soul dancer and a giddy slice of exploito-pop, the tune was, if not the band's biggest record, the one for which they are best remembered. One of the better "blue eyed soul" bands of the era, they had an ace in the hole with lead singer Brady who often sounded more like Smokey Robinson than the man himself. The band was formed in East Baltimore in 1965...

"Everybody's Going To A Love-In" by Bob Brady and the Con Chords, was simultaneously a storming soul dancer and a giddy slice of exploito-pop, the tune was, if not the band's biggest record, the one for which they are best remembered. One of the better "blue eyed soul" bands of the era, they had an ace in the hole with lead singer Brady who often sounded more like Smokey Robinson than the man himself. The band was formed in East Baltimore in 1965, and released all their records on their very own label, Chariot Records, until Bob was later signed as a solo act to A&M;. The members at the time of the first two records were: Bob Brady - lead vocals - George Layfield - lead vocals, backup vocals - Jim Samuel - piano, organ, backup vocals - Dennis Zwirlein - guitar, backup vocals - Tony Constantino - trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax, vibes, backup vocals (although his primary instrument was drums) - Dave Wladkowski - alto sax, baritone sax - Larry Sprigg - trombone, vibes - John Drexler - drums - Vince Sansone - bass guitar - John Drexler was replaced on drums with Marty Fisher. Vince Sansone was replaced with Tommy Thompson on bass. Tommy was also a talented sax player. In 1964 the band was called simply the Con-Chords and was playing local teen centers. At that time George Layfield was the lead singer. (After Brady joined, George sang lead on about 1/4 of the songs, especially Steve Wonder and James Brown type stuff.) In addition to the original members there were two additional backup singers Wayne Mattes and Bob Gehrig. Lou Patti played trumpet. Some time in late '64 or early '65 Bob Brady joined the group, and Mattes and Gehrig departed. Shortly thereafter Lou Patti was replaced on trumpet with Tony Constantino, who played trumpet as a third instrument, but was probably the best drummer in town and a tremendous sax player and more than adequate on trumpet. Tony had played drums and other instruments professionally all over the east coast and Italy since he was a young boy. "More More More Of Your Love", a Smokey Robinson cover, became massive on the Northern Soul scene because it was faster and more generic than the original. This song, "Everybody's Going To A Love-In", was their only UK release.

Released back in October 2008, a tremendously exciting project for Northern Soul fans everywhere. We've done a deal with Wienerworld, a major music DVD company, and the same company who originally released our classic documentary "The Strange World Of Northern Soul", and we have now released the definitive DVD box set. A five disc set of 200 performances called "Northern Soul's Greatest 200 Floorfillers". This uses some songs from "The Strange World Of Northern Soul" which are completely re-edited, so they look fresh and sparkling new. All the previous video effects done in the 1990s are gone forever, consigned to history. Plus loads and loads of never before seen videos, many of which have sat in the can untouched for many many years. Plus some newly recorded tributes to the classics. If you ever went to Blackpool Mecca or Wigan Casino, this is the must-have purchase of the year. In putting together this box set, we have nearly all the biggest all time blockbusters, "Out On The Floor", "Night Owl', "I'm On My Way", "Time Will Pass You By", "Blowing My Mind To Pieces", "Do I Love You", all sung by the original singers. We believe this will go down in history as the greatest Northern Soul DVD collection of all time. Here, Baltimore legend, Bob Brady, sings his Northern Soul monster classic, "More More More Of Your Love", on Chariot Records. This is another performance filmed for my now somewhat notorious documentary, "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". Bob Brady and The Con-Chords were a white group in the 1960s from Baltimore, who everyone thought were black, mainly because Bob sounded so much like Smokey Robinson. It took a lot of trouble but I tracked him down for The Strange World Of Northern Soul, and we redid two of his hits, one of which became famous on the KFC commercials in the UK. The members were: Bob Brady - lead vocals - George Layfield - lead vocals, backup vocals - Jim Samuel - piano, organ, backup vocals - Dennis Zwirlein - guitar, backup vocals - Tony Constantino - trumpet, baritone sax, tenor sax, vibes, backup vocals (although his primary instrument was drums) - Dave Wladkowski - alto sax, baritone sax - Larry Sprigg - trombone, vibes - John Drexler - drums - Vince Sansone - bass guitar. "More More More Of Your Love", a Smokey Robinson cover, became massive on the Northern Soul scene because it was faster and more generic than the original. I filmed and interviewed over three hundred people and 131 artists performing their Northern Soul classic songs, for the six disc DVD box set extravaganza, "The Strange World Of Northern Soul", with twenty four hours of footage, including some rare footage of the Motorcity reunion. The project started in 1997, was released on VHS tape and premiered to 1300 people at the King George's Hall in Blackburn in July 1999, then took four more years to refine and re-edit into its DVD release in 2003. A life's labour of love. So, in 1998, after much searching, and the most massive amount of detective work imaginable, we tracked Bob down to make this one and only one-time performance especially for us, for our ground breaking Encyclopedia Britannica of Northern Soul, and I am so glad that we did.

The Project is entitled "The Lincoln Project: Excellence and Access in Public Higher education". The committee consists of former politicians such as Kay Bailey Hutchison and George Miller, business leaders such as Bob Haas,Tom Siebel and Patrick Doyle, former public and private university Presidents and chancellors, data experts and educational experts, led by Henry Brady. The study has led to a number of dramatic conclusions including the fact that state disinvestment in public higher education is a national phenomenon and probably irreversible because of forces beyond the control of state legislators. In order to guarantee that the United States will continue to have world leading public research universities, which are accessible to the entire population, not just students from privileged backgrounds, a new compact for the support of public higher education is required. This compact will involve symbiotic partnerships between the federal and state governments,corporations, foundations and philanthropists, the universities and their students. We will discuss specific actions by each of these sectors and specific state and federal government legislation which will enable our public universities both to excel and to continue to retain their public character.
