Victim speaks out about Bull Creek assault
A young woman who was indecently assaulted by a man in Bull Creek one year ago has spoken out in an effort to catch her attacker.
She bravely spoke to the media on Wednesday to mark one year since the event as part of a fresh public appeal as police still search for the assailant.
It was just after midnight when she left the Bull Creek train station and was walking south on Bull Creek Drive when she noticed a man standing at the intersection of a pathway near a bush area whistling.
The man claimed he was looking for his dog and asked for Victoria's assistance to find it.
She agreed to help but as they searched for the supposed missing dog, he threw her to the ground and indecently assaulted her.
"He said that he had heard something, so we both kind of turned to look into the bushes," Victoria said.
"When I leaned forward to see if I could see anything that's when he grabbed me.
"I was down on the ground...face down so it was really hard to get him off.
"Every time I tried to get up he would push my face back down."
When Victoria managed to flee from the man, she flagged down motorists on the freeway for help.
"I ran straight into the middle of freeway and there was a lady driving past so I flagged her down," she said.
"I screamed at her to call (for) help."
The attack left Victoria with bruises and scratches all over her body.
She believed her attacker had shown some form of pre-meditation because he was wearing gloves at the time.
"This was definitely a thing that he kind of planned...there had to be some form of pre-mediation there for the gloves," she said.
Sex Assault Squad detectives have been investigating the attack for the past year but have so far been unable to apprehend the man.
They hope the fresh appeal will lead more people to come forward with new information.
"Essentially I am actually hoping that he has most likely networked since then, so that he's met new people that might recognise him if we get his face back out there," Victoria added.
"Obviously its made me a lot more cautious about where I go and what I'm doing.
"Its definitely one of those things that you're not going to be able to forget."
Police have re-issued a composite image of the offender.
He's described as 25-35 years-old with fair skin, 165cm-175cm tall, medium build, with light brown/dark blonde short hair, stubble on his chin and had an Australian accent.
He was wearing black coloured cargo style pants, a black long sleeve hoodie with pockets in the front and dark coloured gloves.
Anyone who recognises the man or was in the area between 11pm January 25 and 1am January 26 last year can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
