Perth Scorchers super fan appeals for safe return of stolen suit

  • Hannah Barry

If you've ever switched on the television or gone along to a Perth Scorchers match, you would recognise James Keating.

He is recognisable by his dyed orange beard and his striped flaming suit, and is affectionately known by other fans at the Furnace as 'Choombies'.

But while other Scorchers fans were celebrating the side's convincing win over the Melbourne Stars on Tuesday evening, Choombies was searching frantically for his trademark jacket.

He appeared on Radio 6PR's Breakfast Show to make an impassioned plea for the suit's safe return on Wednesday morning.

"I got down there early to watch the women's Big Bash game and there's a fair break between the two games, so I've taken the jacket off, put it in my orange bag on my seat and gone down the road to meet some friends for a beverage," he said.

"On our return the suit is gone... nothing was there... I've been in touch with everyone and nobody from the security or the WACA knows anything about it."

Choombies said he was now urgently looking for a replacement orange suit before the Scorchers home final on Saturday afternoon

"I gotta come up with something, because just the standard Scorchers issued shirt isn't going to cut it for me," he said.

"It was a long flight to Bali for that one."
