Comprising a land area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi), it is the second-largest country in the Middle East and the 18th-largest in the world. With 78.4 million inhabitants, Iran is the world's 17th-most-populous country. It is the only country that has both a Caspian Sea and an Indian Ocean coastline. Iran has long been of geostrategic importance because of its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.

Ruhollah Khomeini
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ruhollah Mūsavi Khomeini (Persian: روحالله خمینی, [ruːholˈlɑːhe χomeiˈniː], 24 September 1902 – 3 June 1989), known in the Western world as Ayatollah Khomeini, was an Iranian Shia Muslim religious leader, revolutionary, politician, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution which saw the overthrow of the Pahlavi monarchy and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's Supreme Leader, a position created in the constitution of the Islamic Republic as the highest-ranking political and religious authority of the nation, which he held until his death. He was succeeded by Ali Khamenei.
Khomeini was a marja ("source of emulation") in Twelver Shia Islam, a Mujtahid or faqih (an expert in Islamic law) and author of more than 40 books, but he is primarily known for his political activities. He spent more than 15 years in exile for his opposition to the last Shah. In his writings and preachings he expanded the theory of velayat-e faqih, the "guardianship of the jurisconsult (clerical authority)", to include theocratic political rule by Islamic jurists. This principle (though not known to the wider public before the revolution), was appended to the new Iranian constitution after being put to a referendum.

Just north of Tehran you can visit the Elburz Mountains for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.
But the real highlights lie elsewhere. In the off-the-beaten-track city of Yazd you'll find a cityscape dotted with the ingenious wind tunnels -- which could be described as the world's first air-conditioning system - the ancient Zoroastrian site of the Towers of Silence, the magnificent Friday Mosque and a number of beautiful palaces and gardens.
Shiraz meanwhile is a lovely university town, known as the city of poets, wine, literature and flowers, and is a real delight. I particularly loved visiting the atmospheric tomb of the Persian poet Hafez. In the evenings it has a magical atmosphere as people gather to read poetry and celebrate the life of this revered poet. Shiraz is also blessed with numerous picturesque mosques and beautiful gardens.
The jewel in the Persian crown is undoubtedly the beautiful city of Esfahan, which has one of the largest squares in the world in the breathtaking Naqsh Jahan Square and probably the most stunning Islamic architecture found anywhere. Esfahan is unbelievably picturesque, with its famed bridges and lively bazaars.
ANCIENT SITES
Iran has a long and rich history, with the Persian Empire at one point ruling over 44% of the world's population. The country is home to some world-class archaeological sites, including the rock-carved tombs of Nagsh e Rostam, where Darius the great is buried, and the spectacular Achamaenid palace complex at Persepolis. This ancient palace was built by Darius the Great to celebrate events such as the Persian New Year, when representatives from the four corners of the empire would congregate. This vast site merits at least a couple of hours to explore the ruins and bas reliefs.
SCENERY
But it's not only about the cities and ancient sites, the scenery of Iran is an unexpected highlight. From beautiful picnic spots such as the Murgon Waterfalls, to fertile valleys in the Bavanat Mountains, where you can encounter Kashqai nomads and see a way of life that has changed little over centuries. In the Dena mountains around Yasuj you'll find an alpine scenery of snow-capped mountains, lakes and streams. It is well worth spending some time away from the better-known cultural sites to explore this lesser-known side of Iran. It really is a beautiful country.
THE PEOPLE
The people of Iran are another real highlight, being welcoming and keen to engage in conversation about everything from politics to football. You are likely to be surrounded by schoolkids asking you questions, offered tea and invited to share in picnics with the locals pretty much wherever you go.
If ever a people were misrepresented by a regime it would be the Iranians. Thanks to a baby boom in the 80's, over 60% of its 70 million population are aged under 30. This generation is well-educated, worldly, and exposed to global media through the internet. Walking around the streets -- which are incidentally very safe - this certainly feels like a nation on the cusp of change.
So forget about any preconceptions you may have about safety, security, or the welcome you'll receive in Iran. It is seven times larger than the Piazza San Marco in Venice. To the south the square is lined by a domed structure which for some years has been known as the Emam Khomeini Mosque, perfectly aligned toward Mecca. Esfahan is an architectural work of art and today one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Outside the city, the settlement mound of Tepe Sialk uncovered finds that can be traced back to the seventh millennium B.C. At the time of Shah Abbas, Kashan was fortified with a double city wall that contained more than six thousand buildings, plus forty mosques and three Koran schools. The Koran Gate leads to the city of Shiraz, a city of love, roses and poetry. Famous Persian poets once lived here and created works of great beauty. Today their mausoleums are visited with much reverence, such as the Hafiz Tomb. For fifty eight years, Ionic stonemasons, Babylonian brick makers, Median and Egyptian goldsmiths, worked in Persepolis, they created what was an indelible symbol of the Achaemenid Empire. The highest level contained the royal residences with living rooms, a fire temple and harem. Iran is still a land of desert, palaces and mosques, a country that is timeless, captivating and historic.

The trip has helped them become familiarized with the Iranian culture and the true image of Iran and the Iranian people. Along the way, they have made many friends and learned to speak the Persian language fluently.

I thought I knew what a good hospitality is like.. until I came to Iran.
"Why go to Iran?" This is a question people often asked when I tell them I was going there. I would have ask the same if it wasn't the words of mouth I heard over the years about how awesome Iran is, how incredibly friendly the people are, and how off the beaten path the whole country is.
The first day I arrived in Tehran, I was walking around the Bazaar and we were approached by several locals asking what we think about Iran, gave us free tea and cakes, and allowed us to roam their warehouses without asking for anything in return. This similar scenario happened a lot more throughout my 2 weeks time in Iran and really got me thinking about how misinformed I was about the country. It is very safe to travel in Iran, easy to do it independently as the locals will go out of their ways to help you, and the people are one of the friendliest people in the world. Not to mention how beautiful the landscape is, how stunning all the attractions are, and how off the beaten track the whole country is.
Iran is truly a special country that with restore your heart and soul and I hope that this video shows at least half of the warmth I got from the amazing people in Iran.

In April 2013, I will begin my solo motorbike adventure starting in Perth, Western Australia and ending in Tallinn, Estonia.
The journey is expected to take 12 months crossing some of the most remote and culturally rich locations in the world.
I have previously travelled to nearly 50 countries, most of which are 2nd and 3rd world countries.
I choose these countries because it is there that I more often experience the vividly intense nature of life & death and the world’s most natural beauty.
I am what you could call a YOYO - Year on, year off.
I work as a FIFO for a year, saving up all I can to then go travelling for around 12 months.
I then return back to mining to save up for another travel venture.
On this particular trip I will be using an adventure motorbike customised specifically for this journey. I will also be taking my camera kitted out with 14-24mm, 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses.
I intend to capture my journey through the lens of my camera with the end goal to produce a coffee table photo book.
I am also inviting people to take part in my journey by giving me photo challenges along the way.
The photo challenges people give me are a way to directly be involved, without having to leave home. You can direct me to take any image you please so long as it is not too criminal, too dangerous or too financially draining.
Essentially, the photo challenges will help guide my adventure by influencing where I travel along the way.
I have travelled for many years and I have already broken my neck once on a motorbike and am extremely aware of issues surrounding rider safety.
I will be travelling with a special GPS device, which will allow me to be located by GPS on any map, and more importantly, it has an SOS function for emergencies.
The countries which I intend to travel are;
Australia - Timor - Indonesia - Malaysia - Borneo - Thailand - Cambodia - Vietnam - Loas - Bhutan - Nepal - India - India (Tibet) - Pakistan - (then one of three possible routes) - The Stans or Iran to Turkey or Oman to North Africa - Estonia.
This trip is a once in a lifetime motorcycle photographic adventure, and I can’t wait to get started.

Dopo le festività per il capodanno lunare, l’istituto centrale cinese ha fissato il cambio dello yuan contro il dollaro in rialzo dello 0,30%, il maggior incremento dallo scorso novembre.
L'economia nipponica segna il passo contraendosi più del previsto nell'ultimo scorcio del 2015 con un calo dell’1,4% annualizzato. Deboli riscontri che hanno alimentato le aspettative di ulteriori stimoli monetari da parte della Bank of Japan che potrebbe addirittura indire una riunione di emergenza prima della prossima, in agenda solo il 14 marzo.
Arabia Saudita e Russia, i due principali produttori mondiali, hanno trovato a Doha l’intesa per bloccare la produzione ai livelli di gennaio. Nessun taglio quindi. L’accordo, stretto anche con Qatar e Venezuela, è però condizionato alla partecipazione degli altri principali produttori e oggi è previsto un summit a Teheran per convincere Iran e Iraq.

Se ben ricordate il 4 aprile 2014, abbiamo caricato in rete il video delle 4 lune rosse, le quali si concretizzeranno in concomitanza ad una festività ebraica, e, altra coincidenza, le feste ebraiche sono sempre le stesse: pasqua e tabernacoli. Questo fenomeno nella storia si è verificato soltanto 7 volte, questa è l'8. Altra coincidenza è il fatto che ci sarà anche un sole nero (eclisse solare) sempre in concomitanza ad una festività ebraica (1 Nissan/Nisan).
Sia dal rabbinato che dalla storia apprendiamo che l'eclisse lunare è un segno per Israele, mentre invece quello solare per i goìm (gentili), vedi ad esempio l'eclisse solare che si produsse durante la crocifissione.
Sia nel 1948 che nel 1967, anni in cui Israele fu grandemente provata, si verificò questa tetra di lune rosse in concomitanza alle festività sopra menzionate. Altra coincidenza è che la distanza l'una dall'altra è di sei (6) mesi, per un totale di TRE volte, formando così il numero: 666.
In Gioele 2:31 leggiamo che prima del Giorno del Signore, o Giorno della Grande Tribolazione, la luna sarebbe diventata sangue e il sole tenebre.
