Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre finds himself in a unique position. Having just declared Canada’s second largest metropolis a “sanctuary city,” he now finds himself an unlikely defender of a summer rodeo against animal rights activists who are distributing a petition to ban the event.

The animal rights activists, who have tried unsuccessfully for decades to shut down the world-famous Calgary Stampede, think they have found a potential victory in their Montreal campaign, where support for rodeos is not has enormous as it is in the Western province of Alberta.

Rules are for little people

"He was very confident that we were able to make those charges go away," Trudeau said of his father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.

"We were able to do that because we had resources, my dad had a couple connections and we were confident that my little brother wasn't going to be saddled with a criminal record for life."

And remember how Maggie Trudeau's impaired charges suddenly went away?

"I shouldn't have got off. I was over the limit," Margaret Trudeau told an audience of occupational therapists at the University of Toronto.

A Tale of Two Bills

Assume for these purposes that all of the accusations in both cases are true.

For one Bill (O'Reilly), these are accusations of failed jokes, allegedly inappropriate looks, allegedly condescending remarks, and, in the most recent case that brought matters to a head, an invitation to a hotel room which was declined and not pursued further.

For the other Bill (Clinton), it is accusations of rape, blatantly improper sexual contact including with a young intern and a babysitter, numerous instances of forcible contact and groping, and attempted seduction.

And don't get me started on spawn of Hillary...

Chelsea Clinton, most recently lionized on the cover of Variety, is a 37-year-old multi-millionaire who has never uttered an interesting word about any subject at any time during the course of her life. Judging from the evidence of her public statements, she has never had an original thought — it isn’t clear that she has had a thought at all.

Is Justin Trudeau building another France?

Which brings us to an interesting question; "What will French Revolution 2.0 look like?"

I'm guessing that will likely be shaped, in the short term anyway, by next months election.

TORONTO -- Two Canadians are the latest addition to the United State's list of most-wanted terrorists that says the men are a threat to American national security and economic interests. The decision to add 24-year-old Farah Mohamed Shirdon and 30-year-old Tarek Sakr to the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists was published Wednesday in an official register of U.S. government regulations.

In an online bulletin, the State Department identifies Sakr as a Syrian-born Canadian citizen who has conducted sniper training for the Al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusrah Front.

Yup... as Canadian as maple syrup, er... slicing off a woman's clitoris.

The victim was found without vital signs, suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West around 9:40 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

The homicide unit has been called in to investigate the shooting, which sent a crowd of people running and screaming through the lot as they tried to escape the gunfire.

A Hamilton man was in his car, parked at the plaza, waiting for a friend when he was shot, Homicide Det.-Sgt. Joyce Schertzer said Saturday. The victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, has now been identified as Leonard Pinnock.

Meanwhile, two hours later, gunshots rang out again at the Planet Fitness gym near Jane St. and Finch Ave.

A man has been taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries after a shooting in Rexdale. The shooting happened at around 6:10 p.m. in the parking lot of a building in the Martin Grove Road and Betteridge Lane area, Toronto police said.

Minutes later, police received another call about a shooting victim at a store in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area. Toronto police said they believe the victim from the first scene was driven a distance and then left in front of the store.

An attacker with an automatic weapon opened fire on police on Paris’ iconic Champs-Elysees Thursday night, killing one officer and seriously wounding two others before police shot and killed him.

Two police officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation, said the attacker had been flagged as an extremist.

Security forces are more widespread in Paris since deadly Islamic extremist attacks in recent years, and France remains under a state of emergency.

France is in a state of emergency and at its highest possible level of alert since a string of terror attacks that began in 2015, which have killed over 230 people.
