"Joseph" is a masculine given name originating from Hebrew, recorded in the Hebrew Bible, as יוֹסֵף, Standard Hebrew Yossef, Tiberian Hebrew and Aramaic Yôsēp̄. In Arabic, including in the Qur'an, the name is spelled يوسف or Yūsuf. The name can be translated from Hebrew יהוה להוסיף YHWH Lhosif as signifying "JEHOVAH will increase/add".
In the Old Testament, Joseph is Jacob's eleventh son and Rachel's first (Yossef ben-Yaakov in the Jewish Bible). In the New Testament, Joseph is the husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the New Testament there is another Joseph as well, Joseph of Arimathea, a secret disciple of Jesus who supplied the tomb in which Jesus was buried.
The form "Joseph" is used mostly in English, French and German-speaking countries. The name has enjoyed significant popularity in its many forms in numerous countries, and Joseph was one of the two names, along with Robert, to have remained in the top 10 boys' names list in the US from 1925 to 1972. It is especially common in contemporary Israel, as either "Yossi" or "Yossef", and in Italy, where the name "Giuseppe" was the most common male name in the 20th century.
A Series of Sneaks is the second album released by the band Spoon. It was released in 1998 by Elektra, then re-released with The Agony of Laffitte CD single tracks added on in 2002 by Merge Records. Despite being overlooked critically and commercially upon release, the album has since gained a cult status amongst fans and critics.
The album has been positively received by critics upon release, its music being compared to that of the Pixies, Wire, Pavement, Gang Of Four, Robert Pollard and The Fall. The songs have also been praised by critics for their brevity, intelligent lyrics and abundance of catchy hooks. Michael Chamy of The Austin Chronicle calls it one of the "great achievements of the late Nineties". Nick Mirov of Pitchfork Media called it "one of the catchiest albums of the year" giving it a 9.4 out of ten (the highest score received by any Spoon release to date from the website). Chris Morgan of Treble writes:" It would be a bit hasty to say that A Series of Sneaks was ahead of its time, an achievement that is more daunting with every passing decade. Rather Spoon simply dusted off sounds of an era not yet fully appreciated by American audiences and it could be said that albums of this type were catalysts that made it possible for a band like Modest Mouse to become the next Green Day.".

Bob Boilen | October 28, 2016 - My first experience seeing Joseph was in 2014 as an opening act in New York City. It was just the twins Meegan and Allison Closner and their older sister, Natalie Closner, and it was clear then they had something special. Over these two years, Joseph's sound has grown beyond the Closners' harmonies. Now, you're likely to see them with a band or hear songs from their latest record, which is filled with sounds far beyond voice and acoustic guitar. It's been a treat to witness Joseph's journey, but I was also fairly thrilled that for their Tiny Desk the sisters stripped it down to their original setup: three voices and one guitar. It's those essentials that will likely remain their strength, and hearing these songs from I'm Alone, No You're Not outside a studi...

Joseph was a child of light
He never disappears
Standing up on dim lit stages
Shielded by his tears
Though he was not a lonesome one
His loneliest surprise
Was trapped in unseen reservoirs
Whose borders were his eyes
Lila never quite broke in
Never got too used to life
Standing up on podiums
Her words cut like a knife
But when confronted with her skin
Irrelevant she’d say
If only I’d been born a bird
I’d fly them all away
I’ve got a problem with right and wrong
‘Cause it changes all the time
The weakest ones are acting strong
So people gotta die
Lulabelle was walking home
Beneath a crimson sky
A cool dry wind began to blow
She could feel it in her eyes
She came to get some fresh supplies
From an undercover cop
A box with biohazard signs
Is where she makes the drop
Franklin was a cameraman
A teleprompter scribe
And every night he’d tame his hand
Just to give it one more try
He never had to write the lies
Just had to spin ‘em right
He says if people knew what I do
They’d be in the streets tonight
I’ve got a problem with right and wrong
‘Cause it changes all the time
The weakest ones are acting strong
