Criminal proceedings against the man charged with murdering Brisbane bus driver Manmeet Sharma have been suspended while he undergoes involuntary mental health treatment.

Anthony O'Donohue, 48, has been in custody since October 2016 accused of setting Mr Sharma on fire as he sat behind the wheel of a council bus at Moorooka.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court heard on Monday that charges against O'Donohue had been suspended and his case transferred to the Mental Health Court.
