José Rizal is a 1998 Filipino biographical film of the Philippine national hero José Rizal directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya and starring Cesar Montano as José Rizal.
At the time of its release, it was the most expensive film in the history of Philippine cinema with a budget of over PhP.80 million until it broke by Ang Sugo: The Last Messenger. The film was an official entry to the 1998 Metro Manila Film Festival. Upon release, the film met a universal critical acclaim.

This video is a short film and documentary of the Life, works, and writings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal. It shows how patriot and heroic is Jose Rizal in his time fighting against the dictatorship of Spanish leadership and colony in the Philippines. Rizal triggered the Philippine Revolution that forced the Spanish Colony to leave the Philippines. Emilio Aguinaldo took over the leadership in the whole Island and was declared as the first General and President of the Republic of the Philippines.

This video was published both for SCHOOL PROJECT and General information Purpose. The School teacher required an English Translation of this and so the narrator provided English descriptions. The narrator is a First year student studying at the Ateneo University when this video was posted. She is now a professional English Speaker working for an American Company.

Rizal
Rizal is a province in the Philippines located in the CALABARZON region, just 16 kilometers east of Manila. The province is named after José Rizal.
Rizal is bordered by Metro Manila to the west, the province of Bulacan to the north, Quezon to the east and Laguna province to the south. The province also lies on the northern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country.
Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Antipolo boasts of a wonderful view of Metro Manila and it is where Hinulugang Taktak, a waterfall popular with tourists, can be found.
The Rizal Province will be accessed by the future C-6 Road connecting the provinces of Bulacan and Cavite and cities of Taguig (beside Laguna de Bay), Parañaque and Muntinlupa which are located within Metro Manila.
History
Tagalog settlements arrived in Rizal who were originally Chinese and later had interactions and admixtures with Arab traders long before the Spanish conquest. The provincial territory began with the organization of the Tondo province and Laguna province during the Spanish administration. Some of the towns like Pasig, Parañaque, Taytay and Cainta were already thriving.

José Rizal
José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda or popularly known as José Rizal (Spanish pronunciation: [xoˈse riˈsal]; 19 June 1861 – 30 December 1896) was a Filipino nationalist during the tail end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. An ophthalmologist by profession, Rizal became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain. He was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after an anti-colonial revolution, inspired in part by his writings, broke out. Though he was not actively involved in its planning or conduct, he ultimately approved of its goals which eventually led to Philippine independence. He is widely considered one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines, and is implied by Philippine law to be one of the national heroes. He was the author of the novels Noli Me Tángere, and El Filibusterismo, and a number of poems and essays.
Early life
José Rizal was born in 1861 to Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alonso in the town of Calamba in Laguna province. He had nine sisters and one brother. His parents were leaseholders of a hacienda and an accompanying rice farm by the Dominicans. Both their families had adopted the additional surnames of Rizal and Realonda in 1849, after Governor General Narciso Clavería y Zaldúa decreed the adoption of Spanish surnames among the Filipinos for census purposes (though they already had Spanish names). José traced his patrilineal lineage back to Fujian province in China through Lam Co, a Chinese immigrant who came to the Philippines in the late 17th century and was later baptized as a Christian and renamed Domingo.

It shows how patriot and heroic is Jose Rizal in his time fighting against the dictatorship of Spanish leadership and colony in the Philippines. Rizal triggered the Philippine Revolution that forced the Spanish Colony to leave the Philippines. Emilio Aguinaldo took over the leadership in the whole Island and was declared as the first General and President of the Republic of the Philippines.

[PLEASE WATCH IN HD] We went there with 11 people so we had 2 tourist guides since 10 is the maximum a tourist guide can handle. We started at 11am then reached the summit at 1pm. The mountain had 4 stopovers where you can rest for a while and eat freshly picked fruits like 2 kinds of bananas, caimito and coconut. It was sweet and healthy. The tourist guides were kind and helpful. In the summit, you will feel in-touched with the nature and feel more alive... ^0^ It was a fun experience and challenge. I believe it was a really healthy experience too since you will get enough natural vitamin D from the sun and breathe pure oxygen. At the end of the day you will feel exhausted but you will feel stronger the next day.

To ward off invaders, the Spaniards built the wall to protect the area. Intramuros housed Fort Santiago, the headquarters for colonizers from the Spaniards, the Americas, the Japanese, until the Philippine Independence in 1946.
The Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, was incarcerated in Fort Santiago. And in his prison cell he wrote his famous poem, Mi último Adiós, before being executed by musketry. Shelling in 1945 destroyed the city beyond recognition. However, bit by bit, Intramuros was reconstructed and has recaptured its historic past. This is Baluarte de San Diego, the oldest fortification in Intramuros. Now it is favorite spot among students and visitors.
There are several schools inside Intramuros, including Letran, which was established in 1620. The present Manila Cathedral, built in 1954, resembled the old design and captured the beauty of the old churches in Intramuros. The Palcio del gobernador actually sits in the original spot of the old Spanish government building. This video is the first in the series, "Philippines, where to go, what to see". As a Philippines tourist there is so much to do and see. This first video is specifically about the Philippines capital Manila. The video was shot as we were holidaying in the Philippine Islands. We started in the Philippines capital of Metro Manila. Our first hotel was the Diamond Hotel on Roxas Boulevard overlooking Manila Bay and after a tour of some of the islands we came back to Manila and stayed at the H2O Hotel, with its aquarium bedroom walls which is situated in the complex of Manila Ocean Park. H2O Hotel also overlooks Manila Bay and is very close to Rizal Park.
Our first visit was to the American Military Cemetery Manila with its two large hemicycles listing the names of those service personnel missing in action.
We visited the historic heart of Manila, Intramuros, built by Spanish conquistadores and Fort Santiago, where Philippines national hero Dr. Jose Rizal spent his last days before being executed on December 30th 1896, two hours after marrying his fiancée Josephine Bracken.
We went on to visit the oldest stone built church in the Philippines, San Agustin Church built in 1589 and is UNESCO listed and where Saint Rita of Cascia, patron saint of impossible causes, is depicted holding a skull.
Our last point of call was Rizal Park, the execution place of Dr. Jose Rizal, which now has a very different purpose.

The José Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape, also known as the Rizal Park and Shrine. It preserves the farm site in barrio Talisay where José Rizal was exiled for four years from 1892-1896 after being accused of sedition and plotting the Philippine revolution in Manila by the Spanish colonial authorities. Located about 1 kilometer northwest from the Dapitan city proper.

WARNING! I do NOT recommend Mindanao region for inexperienced, or solo foreign travellers. If you do go to Mindanao, travel with local Filipino's and stay in safe and well researched areas. Security has improved in recent years, but can change very quickly. There are active criminal and terrorist groups in Mindanao that target foreigners for kidnappings and attacks.
Travel Tips:
Everyone spoke English and generally very friendly.
It is important to have photo ID for flights, hotels, and if police ask.
It is common for taxi drivers in Manila, and every other city, to try rip off or overcharge foreigners and tourists. This includes motorbikes, or pedicabs / trike taxi. Ask them nicely to put the meter on, or negotiate the price from the start. Ask local security and your hotel what it costs for transport to your destination. If you are not comfortable, don't use that taxi. Don't be afraid to move on and find another taxi!
Shopping mall culture, locals love the mall for the aircon and to get out of the heat.
Generally you will notice ash and dust particles in the air as burning trash and charcoal BBQ cooking is quite common. Also if there is a lot of vehicle traffic in that city from jeepney buses, motorbikes, trucks and cars.
Locals often inflate prices for foreigners and tourists. Haggle and negotiate nicely. Be firm and confident, but always be respectful and polite. Shop around, you can often get a better price. Ask around about local fair pricing for things you want to do.
"Tip" can also mean bribe, so don't be afraid to ask what you're paying for upfront. Locals often do things to try help you, but then expect a tip.
The average basic worker earns PHP200 - 300 a day. So tipping PHP 20 - 50 is fine.

Antipolo is rich in natural attractions. Its natural landform and existing vegetative covers makes for very exciting scenic spots. Most of these natural attractions are in the higher evaluations of eastern and northern Antipolo, where the necessary infrastructure for tourism are not in place yet.
*1st destination- Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage
Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. Located at the Town Proper of Antipolo, the home of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage (Nuestra Senora De la Paz Y Buen Viaje). Historians say that this miraculous icon has sailed back and forth between Manila and Acapulco eight times and on several occasions was credited with saving her galleon form destruction by pirates and Dutch and British blockades. The galleon's safe arrivals were attributed to the miraculous powers of the statuette. It was on November 26, 1626 that Archbishop of Manila, Michael O' Doherty. The month of May is a fiesta in Antipolo were thousands of devotees especially those intending to travel abroad come to pay homage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage to ask for a safe voyage.
*2nd destination - Hinulugang Taktak Falls
Hinulugang Taktak. The Hinulugang Taktak, located at Taktak Road, Brgy. Dela Paz, falls is a part of Antipolo's natural and cultural heritage. Its legendary origin dates back to the 15 th century when legend has it that the waterfalls was where the townsfolk threw the large bell that caused undue disturbance whenever it was rung at Angelus. Its sound was so loud that the people could not endure it. They demanded that the local priest get rid of the bell. Thus "Hinulugang Taktak", meaning the place where the bell was dropped. The place has since become a favorite spots for visitors and clients. The park is an alluring view of natural formation.
*3rd Destination- Inday Nelly Mystical Cave
Mystical Caves. Located at Puting Bato, Brgy. San Luis (with 205 steps to reach the opening, with natural rock formations- stalactites and stalagmites of religious icons such as Trinity, Calvary, Holy Spirit, Bell and Madonna and Child) Stalagmites and stalactites taking in shapes and faces of religious icons give one a sense of mysticism in the caverns of the Mystical Caves.

The mountain had 4 stopovers where you can rest for a while and eat freshly picked fruits like 2 kinds of bananas, caimito and coconut. It was sweet and healthy. The tourist guides were kind and helpful. In the summit, you will feel in-touched with the nature and feel more alive... ^0^ It was a fun experience and challenge. I believe it was a really healthy experience too since you will get enough natural vitamin D from the sun and breathe pure oxygen. At the end of the day you will feel exhausted but you will feel stronger the next day.
