Days of Gold is the fourth studio album by American country music artist Jake Owen. It was released on December 3, 2013 via RCA Records Nashville. The album's track listing was announced on October 9.
The album got some positive reviews from Allmusic, Country Weekly, Got Country Online and USA Today. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave it a three-and-a-half out of five stars, and thought that the album had a less polished sound than its predecessor. He wrote that "There's no mistaking Days of Gold for anything earthy, but this sonic thawing winds up emphasizing Owen's inherent sweetness in an appealing fashion." At Country Weekly, Tammy Ragusa graded the album to be an A-, saying that Owen's voice was "[e]ffortless and easy", and that its themes seemed like an artistic evolution from the previous album. Donna Block of Got Country Online gave it a perfect five star rating, and called this album "precious", which fans and listeners alike should own this album. At USA Today, Brian Mansfield rated it a three out of four stars, and felt that after the first three songs that the album goes south somewhat, which he noted that the hits are likely to be the "party songs"; however, he affirmed that "the others separate him from the pack."
Joshua Ryan "Jake" Owen (born August 28, 1981) is an American country music artist. Signed to RCA Nashville in 2006, he released his debut album Startin' with Me that year. This album produced three singles, all of which reached top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart: his debut single "Yee Haw", "Startin' with Me", and "Something About a Woman". A second album, 2009's Easy Does It, has accounted for three more singles: "Don't Think I Can't Love You", "Eight Second Ride", and "Tell Me". In September 2011, Owen achieved his first number one hit on the country charts with the title track to his third album Barefoot Blue Jean Night, as did with "Alone with You", "The One That Got Away", and "Anywhere with You". His fourth album, Days of Gold produced two singles with its title track, which broke the top 20 in 2014, and the number one single "Beachin'".
Owen has also toured as an opening act for several other country artists, including Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Little Big Town, Sugarland, Keith Urban, and Jason Aldean.
Gold is a chemical element with symbol Au (from Latin: aurum) and atomic number 79. In its purest form, it is a bright, slightly reddish yellow, dense, soft, malleable and ductile metal. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements, and is solid under standard conditions. The metal therefore occurs often in free elemental (native) form, as nuggets or grains, in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as electrum) and also naturally alloyed with copper and palladium. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium (gold tellurides).
Gold's atomic number of 79 makes it one of the higher atomic number elements that occur naturally in the universe. It is thought to have been produced in supernova nucleosynthesis from the collision of two neutron stars and to have been present in the dust from which the Solar System formed. Because the Earth was molten when it was just formed, almost all of the gold present in the early Earth probably sank into the planetary core. Therefore, most of the gold that is present today in the Earth's crust and mantle is thought to have been delivered to Earth later, by asteroid impacts during the late heavy bombardment, about 4 billion years ago.
A day is a unit of time. In common usage, it is an interval equal to 24 hours. It also can mean the consecutive period of time during which the Sun is above the horizon, also known as daytime. The period of time during which the Earth completes one rotation with respect to the Sun is called a solar day.
Several definitions of this universal human concept are used according to context, need and convenience. In 1967, the second was redefined in terms of the wavelength of light, and was designated the SI base unit of time. The unit of measurement "day", redefined in 1967 as 86 400 SI seconds and symbolized d, is not an SI unit, but is accepted for use with SI. A civil day is usually also 86 400 seconds, plus or minus a possible leap second in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), and, in some locations, occasionally plus or minus an hour when changing from or to daylight saving time. The word day may also refer to a day of the week or to a calendar date, as in answer to the question "On which day?" The life patterns of humans and many other species are related to Earth's solar day and the day-night cycle (see circadian rhythms).

rainy day gold
Thought it was safe to go outside
But I guess I was wrong
Thought I could take a little ride
Just to see what was going on
Girl I know it's been awhile
Awhile since you've been gone I swear
Aw but baby I still see you everywhere
Around every corner, cafe, backroad, stop sign, stoplight
streetlight glowing
Around every highway, driveway, fast song, slow song on my radio
At every party, dive bar, backseat in my car
Sounds crazy I know
But you just keep hanging around
You got me living in a ghost town
Girl I see you every road I go down
Your memory of me about to throw down, showdown, oh now
Why'd you leave me living in a ghost town
(Why'd you leave me living in a ghost town)
Across the room I see your face
Then it disappears
I hear your voice call out my name
Whispering in my ear
I reach for you but you're not here
You're still here
Around every corner, cafe, backroad, stop sign, stoplight
streetlight glowing
Around every highway, driveway, fast song, slow song on my radio
At every party, dive bar, backseat in my car
Sounds crazy I know
But you just keep hanging around
You got me living in a ghost town
Girl I see you every road I go down
Your memory of me about to throw down, showdown, oh now
Why'd you leave me living in a ghost town
I know you don't want me so why oh why oh why do you haunt me
Around every corner, cafe, backroad, stop sign, stoplight,
streetlight glowing
Around every highway, driveway, fast song, slow song on my radio
At every party, dive bar, backseat in my car
Sounds crazy I know
But you just keep hanging around
You got me living in a ghost town
