My first car was a Holden. But today, I'm a Ford man.

THE time has come. Ninety years of Ford manufacturing in Geelong and Broadmeadows ends today, and it’s a gut-wrenching moment for Ford workers and their families.

Our skyline already stands proud on its own two feet. But here's the latest addition: The Pantscraper.

Construction on the stand-out Collins Arch development – dubbed “The Pantscraper” – has officially begun at 447 Collins Street. Collins Arch covers an entire CBD block and is a $1.25 billion build of two 42-storey towers connected at the top with a sky bridge. Through negotiations, the origina

If you're one of the 26,000 people who use Thompsons Road every day, you know it's a traffic nightmare.

Well, not for long.

The level crossing will be gone. Nearly 11 kilometres of road will be duplicated. We're not wasting a second.

From tonight, 700 workers will be onsite 24/7 to remove the level crossings at St Albans and Ginifer Stations. It will mean some disruption for local residents, and I'm sorry for that – but it will be worth it in the end.

Two more level crossings will soon be gone and two new stations will stand in their place, 6 months ahead of schedule.

The two dangerous and congested level crossings in St Albans that the Andrews Labor Government is removing will be gone by the end of the year – more than six months earlier than promised.

To all the Doggies diehards out there, thanks for letting me join the bandwagon. I'll never forget that Grand Final.

And if Melbourne can back it up in the NRL today, I'll be even happier.

Bring it home, Storm.

I'm sick of the Liberals attacking penalty rates and I'm sick of the Liberals attacking public holidays.

Before Grand Final Friday kicked off, there was no real long weekend in this half of the year.

Hardworking Victorians and their families deserve a bit of relief – and what better time than the weekend of our greatest sporting spectacle.

...

Last year's holiday was a massive success. Tourism boomed across the city and the regions. The parade was the biggest on record – and if the crowds we've seen today are anything to go by, this year will be no different.

Enjoy Grand Final Friday. Stay safe.

30 years ago, Senior Constable Maurice Moore was working late.

It was 2:15 in the morning when he saw two men pushing a car down a Maryborough street, a car he thought may have been stolen.

One of the men soon fled, and the other was detained – but as he radioed the incident in, Senior Constable Moore was overpowered.

...

His gun was taken, and he was shot 5 times.

Today, on National Police Remembrance Day, we recognise the ultimate sacrifice made by Senior Constable Moore and 158 other Victorian police officers just like him.

Their stories reveal the very best of us: strength, commitment, integrity.

To them, we say: we will remember you.

Seems I ruffled a few feathers with my last footy post by suggesting Swans fans are out on their own.

To make amends, here's a list of things you'll be able to do this long weekend instead of watching the Swannies get trounced by the mighty Bulldogs.

You'll even be able to drown your sorrows after 10pm, because we're allowed to do that down here.

You can take Melbourne out of the grand final, but you can’t take the grand final out of Melbourne.
