Many of those sent back to Mexico have to walk through a door in the fence separating California and the Mexican town of Tijuana. Some were caught trying to enter the US illegally, others had lived in the US - without papers - for years. The BBC's Valeria Perasso reports from both sides of the border on what happens to deportees once they pass through this door. US-Mexico border wall: The great wall of America A border of more than 3,000 kilometres separates the US from Mexico - but it is defined not only by physical barriers made of concrete and steel but by an immigration policy which is failing to address the issues behind illegal migration. Despite the US spending billions of dollars on border enforcement, the lure of work sees illegal migrants enter the country at a rate of 850,000 a year. A series of walls along the Mexican border were designed to stem this flow but based on current estimates it has failed. Instead, the walls have re-routed human traffic into remote desert areas where people risk their lives in deadly conditions attempting to enter the US. This film shows what US immigration policy looks like on the ground for the peopl...

This is the second part of two parts relating the personal experiences of hobo Rishayan en Mexico, as it relates to his need for medical and dental care. www.facebook.com/homelessblogs. The first part is called " Healthcare In Mexico For American Hobo Real Experience "
Just a decade ago, half of all Mexicans — 52 million people — had no health insurance. As many as 4 million families a year faced financial ruin because of catastrophic illness, like breast cancer. Today, those same families have access to treatment because of Seguro Popular. The universal health care initiative, launched in 2003 and largely powered by Harvard research, is funded with less than 1 percent of the country’s GDP. It has gradually expanded to cover a range of catastrophic illnesses. Breast cancer, with its fast-rising rates and ever-younger victims, was added in 2007. To read more, visit http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2015/01/escalating-the-fight-against-breast-cancer/.
As some American senior citizens find it difficult to afford health care, many have moved to Mexico as an alternative for treatment and medicine. Kelly Cobiella reports from the town of Manzanillo.

Mexico has produced a staggering number of elite boxers. Nearly 150 professional world titles have been won by fighters from Mexico. Whilst they've enjoyed success in the pro ranks, in recent times Mexico's amateur fighters have struggled somewhat. They haven't won an Olympic medal since the 2000 Sydney Games. However, the Mexican Boxing Federation is looking to put this right in the years ahead and they've established a new Youth Development Programme to nurture young fighters. Besides trafficking narcotics, extorting businesses, and brutally murdering their rivals, cartels are now at work exploiting their country’s precious number one export: oil. Every day as many as 10,000 barrels of crude oil are stolen from Mexico’s state-run oil company, Pemex, through precarious illegal taps, which are prone to deadly accidents. Pemex estimates that it loses $5 billion annually in stolen oil, some of which ends up being sold over the border in US gas stations. Border agents say they discovered more than a ton of drug stuffed into fake carrots mixed in with shipment of the real thing at the U.S.-Mexico border. Texas officials say they found 2,493 pounds of drug on Sunday after an imaging system flagged the truck transporting the produce for a secondary examination while it was crossing the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge along the Texas-Mexico border near the Gulf of Mexico. The street value of the drugs is estimated at $500,000, said authorities. Police say that nearly 3,000 carrot-shaped packages were mixed in with real carrots, according to CNN. Officers were able to fill up two pickup trucks with the allegedly smuggled drugs. The case is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. 'Once again, drug smuggling...
MEXICALI, MEXICO — A Honduran national admitted Wednesday in the federal court in San Diego that he tried to smuggle about 25 kilos cocaine across the Mexico-U.S. border using an underwater tunnel, EFE reported. Border Patrol agents discovered a soaked Evelio Padilla-Zepeda, 28, in a wetsuit next to the All-American Canal, about 7 miles east of Calexico, California, on April 25. Near him, they found a breathing tank with a rebreather, to prevent surface bubbles, and 25 vacuum-sealed and giftwrapped packages, containing a total of 25 kilos of cocaine. That led Border Patrol agents to the discovery of a 45 meter-long underwater tunnel that began in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and ended under the water of the All-American Canal. The drugs were put on a trolley system on the dry Mexi...

https://www.expedia.com/Mexico-City.d178285.Destination-Travel-Guides Mexico City is one of the financial powerhouses and cultural capitals of Latin America; it’s also a city of color. Mexico City’s colors run deepest in the main square, the Zócalo, once the epicenter of the Mexican Civilization. Today, this area is presided over by a temple of a different kind, The Metropolitan Cathedral. Throughout the Centro Histórico district, over 1500 heritage buildings vie for your attention. The streets of this district overflow with museums and galleries. For a window into the life and color of yesteryear, visit the fabulous Museo Franz Mayer. For a change of color, head to Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. The park is home to cultural institutions such as the ...
Travel video about destination Mexico. Mexico, land of the Maya and Aztec, temples and beaches and with a population of twenty-six million the bubbling metropolis of Mexico City is a maze of streets, flat roofs, skyscrapers and parks. Earthquakes, floods and civil wars created this ‘City Of The Aztecs’. Templo Mayor, the main temple of the Aztecs, lies in the centre of the city, in the large main square, Zocalo. The magnificent Catedral Metropolitana with its massive dimensions and fine stone masonry dominates the square, with equal prominence being given to the Palacinio Nacional, governmental seat of the Mexican President. In 1519, when the Spanish conquerors reached Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec kingdom, they discovered a lagoon paradise with floating gardens, Xochimilco, a labyrin...

Travel video about destination Mexico City in Mexico. Mexico City is a vivid metropolis and cosmopolitan city situated on a plateau in the central highlands at an altitude of 2, 286 metres, where the food is spicy and the Tequila flows freely! The city's fascinating history is reflected in both its art and architecture with age old charm, Indian roots and elegant buildings. Until the Spanish conquest, the Templo Mayor was the setting of coronations and human sacrifice. The remains of the walls within which thousands of priests once lived are only a few steps from the buildings of the country's former Spanish conquerors. Construction of the country's largest cathedral, the Catedral Metropolitana, took 250 years. The lower section is quite plain but the upper section is of Baroque and Neo-...
